Ally Walker stars in the new series HBO series Tell Me You Love Me, which airs Sundays at 9pm ET beginning Sept. 9.
If your TV only carried three shows, which three would you want?
Ally Walker: The Shield. My show now [Tell Me You Love Me]; I have to say that. Well, The Sopranos is over so I have to say — and my husband’s going to be horrified, horrified — I love American Idol! [Note, Walker’s husband, John Landgraf, is president of the cable network FX.]
You’re at a magazine rack and can pick three magazines, what are they?
I like Harper‘s a lot. I actually like gossip columns [whispering] like Star, and Time.
You actually believe the gossip from those mags?
Dude, those people get ahold of stuff. Yes! From personal experience, I’m like, “How do they know that?” A lot of it’s really good. It’s fun to read. It’s trashy reading.
When’s the last time you were starstruck?
I’m always starstruck. Well, let’s see, who did I see recently that I chased down? I’ve chased several people. I’ve chased Katharine Hepburn down. I don’t know. I haven’t seen anyone recently. I’ve been home for five years. Nobody recently. Danny DeVito is a really good friend of mine and I’m always starstruck by Danny and Rita. [Later in the interview, she adds It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia to her list of favourite shows.]
Do you have a favourite sports team?

Well, I really do like Shaq, so I like the team he played on, the Orlando Magic. I don’t really follow much in sports, though.
What has been your strangest fan experience?
This is what happens to me all the time: “Don’t I know you? Did we go to school together? You’re Maryanne’s older sister, aren’t you?” That’s what I get all the time because no one can quite place me. [Walker’s most known role is as the Profiler.]
When’s the last time you felt like crying?
This morning. I cry all the time.
What’s your favorite condiment?
Ketchup and relish. I can’t just have one — one thing is boring.
What’s the coolest item you ever splurged on?
Let me think about this, because this has got to be good. I’m so boring. I bought the slippy slide with the bridge and the big slide on the end. That was the coolest item I ever splurged on. [Walker and her husband have three sons ages 9, 6 and 3.]
