Project Runway Is Down To The Final 5

by WindUpDoll

If you haven’t heard, all 5 of the contestants now on Runway all got to show a collection at Bryant Park. So don’t feel too sorry for anyone who gets booted at this point. According to reports, the audience felt that there was a clear winner. It’ll be interesting to see if the audience’s idea of the winner was actually one of the eligible contestants, and not one of the two decoys. Only time will tell on that one. If you haven’t seen the collections, you can check them out here.

These models have had the easiest ride ever this season. I mean, come on, they’re only actually doing their job about every other runway show.

Oh, interesting. We’re doing a double elimination tonight to get down to the final 3. Interesting. This just tells me that with all their weeks off, I will never be able to predict how long the Project Runway season will go.

Again, they’re going on a field trip, which I’m sure is just thrilling for all of them. They meet Tim at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, who takes them through these glorious galleries. They get the place to themselves, which would be delicious. Tim tells them that they get to pick a piece of art to work from as their inspiration. They have 45 minutes & 3 galleries to choose from.

One is the Greek & Roman sculpture room. Do you think Rami’s going to be draping like crazy? No, surely not. What stinks is that it looks like they have to move as a group. I would’ve just wanted to run forward to the next rooms. One of the rooms was an Egyptian temple. I would’ve been all over that. Chris laughs and it just booms in the big marble room. We hear Rami say ‘I hope there are no surprises.’ C’mon, this is Project Runway. They get one hour to pick a piece of art and sketch.

Unfortunately, we’re shopping at Mood again, and not House of Spandex. That’s a shame.

Rami is blabbing on & on about how he’s trying to be simple & others are over complicating the challenge. Rami and Jillian are sniping at each other, which at this point in the competition, I don’t know how you wouldn’t snipe at someone. You’ve been packed in the same rooms with these people for a month. I’d get snippy too.

Sweet P’s model has been called away, so she can’t fit her piece to her model, which is a major drag on her process.

Tim has them all gather around. Collier Strong is back. He’s a L’Oreal shill, I mean, makeup dude. At least he doesn’t say L’Oreal a lot. You see their name EVERYWHERE, but he doesn’t say L’Oreal, L’Oreal, L’Oreal.

Chris decides he’s done, so he goes to take a nap. Of course others are ripping him for it, as I suppose they should be. It IS the last challenge. Christian is going on & on about how fabulous he is. Tim comes over to scold Chris for taking a nap. Chris had better wow him. He’s not wowed. Tim’s also concerned about Christian’s cohesiveness. Christian, of course is way confident.

Jillian is behind. Shocking, I know. Tim loves Rami’s, but he’s concerned that his look isn’t fresh. After all, it is draped. Sweet P’s model shows up at 10pm, so Sweet P is thrilled. The dress fits, but she’s still got all of her finishing work to do. It’s not looking good for Sweet P right now.

It’s runway day! Christian is working the flat iron to make his hair extra-fierce.

In the workroom, there is once again the last-minute flurry of work. Tim wants the designers to blow Nina’s shoes off her feet. Sweet P’s model is sending her confidence and peace.

Pocked Collier is going L’Oreal crazy on the models. There’s some crazy makeup going on. Jillian is cutting her dress on the model, and steaming her while she’s in it too. Her hem is making her cry.

I love that the text message voting involves Rami’s draping addiction. How will America vote? I know if I voted I’d tell him to knock off the draping.

Let’s start the show.

Roberto Cavalli is the guest judge. He’s well-preserved, to say the least.

The designers are overall pretty happy with how their outfits turned out. Rami is still way passionate about draping. I like Jillian’s coat, but I don’t get the dress at all. It looks like something from Solid Gold. Sweet P’s doesn’t look like it’s in the same league as the rest of the designers.

The judges are loving Christian’s outfit. Roberto Cavalli also loves Chris’ dress. The other judges slam him a bit for repeating the ‘big collar’ idea. The judges are also loving Jillian’s look, which I don’t get. Again, that’s why I’m so not a fashion/design person.

Sweet P’s outfit is called a bit too commercial. Rami again explains how passionate he is about draping. The judges slam him for, again, being too predictable. They want him to move out of the box of Grecian drapery. I would agree.

The judges are saying pretty predictable things in their private slamming of the designers. If there was only one person leaving, it would be an easy call. Two, however, is hard for me. I think it’s the end of the line for Sweet P. The other person, I’m not so sure. Could be Rami, could be Chris. I think Christian and Jillian are in for sure.

By the way, America agrees with me. Knock off the draping, Rami.

Challenge winner is Christian. Jillian is also in. Did I call it or what? Sweet P is out. I’m so on right now!  Of course, this is the hard choice — Rami or Chris. I totally want Chris in, but I fear for him. The judges were disappointed in both of them.

Oh, and total cop-out, they’re both in for Fashion Week. Oh, wait, they have to create the collection, and then they get judged AGAIN to determine who gets to REALLY show at Fashion Week. What a pain in the butt! Poor Sweet P, but really, it was time.

It’s the reunion show next week. Don’t know if I’ll blog that. I’ll definitely be watching, and will recap the catfights, if they happen.

Make it work Chris!
