Scariest Scary Movie #12 – The Evil Dead

The Evil Dead (1981, Bruce Campbell, Ellen Sandweiss, Richard DeManincor)

Can they be stopped?

Quick Plot: A group of friends travel to a cabin in the woods for a weekend of fun and stumble upon The Book of the Dead (aka Naturon Demonto or Necronomicon) and a taped translation of it. When they play the tape, they unwittingly release the evil spirits that live in the woods. One by one, they fall victim to the Evil and are turned into zombie-like deadites, until only Ash remains. As the only survivor, it is up to him to find a way to stop them and put the evil dead to rest.

Final Say: This is a Sam Raimi classic and starts the great cult legacy of Ash and the Evil Dead franchise. This movie creeps me out so much that whenever I am camping and the thought of the Evil Dead so much as pops into my head, I start getting freaked out by all the trees thinking that something is lurking in them waiting to get me. Horror at its finest!

Recommended: If you love this movie, be sure to also check out Evil Dead II and, of course, Army of Darkness.
