NBC has announced that world-renowned singing sensation Susan Boyle, who became an overnight phenomenon after appearing on Britain’s Got Talent earlier this year, will perform live for the first time in America on the season finale of NBC’s hit summer series America’s Got Talent on Wednesday, September 16 (8-10 p.m. ET).
Boyle, a 48-year-old church volunteer from West Lothian, Scotland, quickly rose to global fame out of nowhere after her moving audition on “Britain’s Got Talent” when she flawlessly sang “I Dreamed a Dream” from Les Miserables. Her follow-up performance — “Memory” from the hit musical Cats — received rave reviews.
Although she ultimately finished as the runner-up on the hit series, Boyle immediately secured a recording contract with Sony BMG and is currently working on her debut album which, while not due for release until November, is already #1 on Amazon.com’s bestselling music list due to those who have pre-ordered it.
