Comic-Con 2011: Sights from Preview Night

By Stacey Harrison

The real show starts Thursday, but the hordes of pop-culture enthusiasts (they don’t mind being called geeks) have descended upon San Diego to see the sights. There has been talk about how some luster has been lost with a few of the major movie studios sitting this Con out, but you’d never know it from the marketing machine that’s out in full force. Here is a taste of what’s out here.

Conan O'Brien's superhero alter ego, The Flaming C, has an entire storefront dedicated to fan art depicting him in all his glory.
The Cartoon Network series "Adventure Time" made an early splash with a band of promoters walking the street trying to get convention goers to visit a nearby eatery that's been converted to an "Adventure Time" theme.
More "Adventure Time" fun ...
This was on top of the building where the "Adventure Time" eatery is housed.
This year's big movie is "The Amazing Spider-Man," which won't hit the big screen till July 2012. Marvel is also hyping the sequel, "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance."
