Investigation Discovery takes a slightly different angle from its usual focus on violation of criminal law starting tomorrow, with the premiere of its new series Deadly Sins. Examining the moral dimension of the law, Deadly Sins uses the well-known seven — gluttony, avarice, sloth, pride, lust, wrath and envy — to illustrate how everyday people can find themselves caught up in situations that lead them to violate their own laws as well as society’s.
Guiding viewers through each scenario is attorney Darren Kavinoky, a criminal behavior expert, who offers insight into the subjects’ motivations and the legal ramifications of their actions.
The premiere episode of Deadly Sins, “Carnal Appetite,” profiles two cases that have gluttony — albeit of the carnal sort, as the title indicates — at their center. First we’ll see the story of a military officer, Cesar Laurean, whose penchant for amorous conquests find him in trouble when one of the women in his past returns to accuse him of rape. Then, in an even more salacious tale, when Regina Hartwell, a wealthy party girl who’s snorting her bankroll up her nose, falls for co-ed Kim LeBlanc, the two are involved for a brief time — until LeBlanc finds herself in the arms of a drug dealer and hitman.
Deadly Sins premieres tomorrow, March 3, at 9pm ET/PT.
