Social media was abuzz yesterday with word that NBC News Chief Foreign Correspondent Richard Engel and his production crew had been missing in Syria since last Thursday, and that a news blackout was in effect. Early this morning, NBC News released a statement with some scary and relieving details about what happened:
“After being kidnapped and held for five days inside Syria by an unknown group, NBC News Chief Foreign Correspondent Richard Engel and his production crew members have been freed unharmed. We are pleased to report they are safely out of the country.”
Obviously, more to come on this story.
