Disney XD debuting two new Marvel animated series, including “Avengers Assemble”

Disney XD‘s Marvel Universe programming block, which features Marvel’s Ultimate Spider-Man as its centerpiece, will be expanding with the addition of two new animated series this summer: Marvel’s Avengers Assemble and Marvel’s Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. Avengers Assemble will have a one-hour preview on Sunday, May 26, before its series premiere July 7 (both at 11am ET/PT), while Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. will premiere Sunday, Aug. 11 at 11am ET/PT.

Marvel’s Avengers Assemble, premiering July 7 after a preview on May 26, will chronicle the further adventures of The Avengers, the famous characters who grew to even further prominence following last year’s blockbuster film. The animated series follows Iron Man (voiced by Adrian Pasdar), Hulk (voiced by Fred Tatasciore), Thor (voiced by Travis Willingham), Captain America (voiced by Roger Craig Smith), Hawkeye (voiced by Troy Baker) and Black Widow (voiced by Laura Bailey), who were all featured in the movie. Added to the characters is newcomer Falcon, voiced by Bumper Robinson. According to the Disney XD release, Avengers Assemble marks the first time in animation history that this distinct team of heroes will join forces.

That team is led by Iron Man, and the heroes train and live together in their new headquarters in Avengers Tower. When the time comes for them to assemble, they face all sorts of enormous threats, such as Dr. Doom trying to conquer Asgard, Attuma driving the Atlantean Army into New York City or Dracula unleashing vampire hordes.

In Part 1 of the special one-hour preview of Marvel’s Avengers Assemble on May 26, called “The Avengers Protocol: Pt. 1,” after Captain America is apparently destroyed by Red Skull, Iron Man reunites the team to try and avenge his friend and stop Red Skull’s army. In “The Avengers Protocol: Pt. 2,” M.O.D.O.K. and Red Skull steal Tony Stark’s armor, which forces The Avengers to put aside their differences and galvanize the team to stop the evil duo from destroying New York City.

“The Avengers Protocol: Pt. 1” and “The Avengers Protocol: Pt. 2” episodes will be available on iTunes starting Monday, May 27.

Fred Tatasciore also voices the Hulk in the smashing character’s second new Disney XD animated appearance, Marvel’s Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H, premiering Aug. 11. In this series, Hulk is no longer fighting alone in a world that sees him as a monster. His friend Rick Jones has taken it upon himself to film the big green guy’s world-saving exploits, along with those of his team, to help change people’s image of the Hulk. Hulk’s team is the never-before-seen combo of himself, his cousin She-Hulk (voiced by Eliza Dushku), A-Bomb (voiced by Seth Green), Red Hulk (voiced by Clancy Brown) and Skaar (voiced by Ben Diskin). This team not only tries to live as a somewhat eccentric family under the same roof (with issues such as trying to housebreak their giant red pet T-rex), but also springs into action to save the day from threats like Ego the Living Planet being on a collision course with Earth.

Marvel’s Avengers Assemble has a one-hour preview May 26 at 11am ET/PT, and makes its series premiere July 7 at 11am ET/PT on Disney XD.

Marvel’s Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. premieres Aug. 11 at 11am ET/PT on Disney XD.
