Hub Network scares up Martha Stewart to judge its “Halloween Bash” costume contest

For what it’s calling “Hub Network’s First Annual Halloween Bash” (let’s just all agree to overlook that something can’t really be “first” and “annual”), Hub Network has conjured up a scary-big celeb to take part: domestic/lifestyle guru Martha Stewart.

Stewart will decide whether she wants to say “it’s a good thing” to 50 finalists (one from each state) competing in a nationwide Halloween costume contest, which will take submissions starting today through Sunday, Sept. 29. The winner will take home $25,000 and have a shot at a walk-on role in the popular Hub series R.L. Stine’s The Haunting Hour. Contestants can visit hubworld.com/halloween to find out how to enter.

The contest is open to all ages (although I don’t imagine we’ll see too many 70-year-olds rocking a homemade My Little Pony outfit), and you can do it individually or in a group of up to five people. The costumes should break down into one of these six categories:

The two-hour special will air Oct. 26. More participating celebrities, including a host and more judges, will be announced later.
