HBO has announced a one-time-only change to its popular Sunday original programming schedule for next week — Super Bowl weekend — likely to avoid viewing conflicts presented by the big game. While the new drama True Detective will be on hiatus, Girls and new comedy-drama Looking will both premiere new episodes on Saturday, Feb. 1 — one day earlier than usual. Both episodes can also be seen the next day, Sunday, Feb. 2, in their usual time slots.
Additionally, these episodes of Girls and Looking will be available earlier than usual on HBO On Demand and HBO GO, beginning Monday, Jan. 27.
In the new episode of Girls premiering Saturday, Feb. 1, at 10pm ET/PT, called “Only Child,” Hannah (Lena Dunham) is thrilled to attend an event alongside members of the literary illuminati, until she learns that her eBook deal may be in jeopardy. Later, she tries to help Adam (Adam Driver) and Caroline (Gaby Hoffmann) work through their anger issues; Jessa (Jemima Kirke) makes positive changes; and Ray (Alex Karpovsky) gives Marnie (Allison Williams) candid advice. This episode can also be seen Sunday, Feb. 2, at 10pm.
The new episode of Looking premiering Saturday, Feb. 1, at 10:30pm ET/PT is called “Looking at Your Browser History.” At a video-game launch party aboard an aircraft carrier, Patrick (Jonathan Groff) and his coworker Owen (Andrew Law) meet Kevin (Russell Tovey), a gay Brit who turns out to be Patrick’s new boss. Reinvigorated after his verbal beatdown of Ethan (Derek Ray), Dom (Murray Bartlett) tells Doris (Lauren Weedman) about his plans to start a Portuguese-chicken restaurant. Agustín (Frankie J. Alvarez) is fired by Stina (Ann Magnuson) after opining that her chair sculpture is lame, but his outlook on art and life gets a lift when he meets CJ (TJ Linnard), a sex worker. The episode can also be seen Sunday, Feb. 2, at 10:30pm.
