RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 6 episode 10 recap: Drag My Wedding

RuPauls Drag Race Season 6 Episode 10 RuPaulIt’s time for the makeover edition of RuPaul’s Drag Race season 6. Episode 10 is titled Drag My Wedding so we’ll be seeing some wedding realness. The question is – who will be the bride?

But first we have to get through the opening snark of Adore being scared & everyone ripping on Courtney for winning. Darienne declares she’ll be leaving banana peels around for the other girls to slip on. It’s JUST THAT EASY to screw up now.

The mini-challenge is creating a twerk of art in support of marriage equality. Body suits & paint galore! This is one challenge where one wants to rely on that body. There are many art puns – Georgia O’Queefe, shake your Picassos, shake your Monet maker, Van GO!, Andy Whorehal, Lady Dada, Tyra Banksy, stop relying on that Botticelli! Oh will the fun never end! Everybody say love!

The main challenge is, duh, doing a drag makeover for a group of brides. It’s the wedding challenge combined with the makeover challenge. How playful! In this case the bride is the groom & the groom is the bride. Since Bianca won the mini-challenge, she gets to match the bride with the queen. What she doesn’t know is that the women aren’t being dragged out, their grooms are and they have no idea what the grooms look like yet. Such a shady bitch that Ru. I mean Reverend Ru, as RuPaul will be marrying the couples on the mainstage. Want!

This week’s extra-special guest judges are Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka. Probably because they’re gay and married and NPH is really hot right now with his Hedwig and the Angry Inch self.

We’re establishing that Adore is freaking out & expecting to go home. What does that mean, kids? (Answer is: she won’t be going home.) She does get to have a fun moment with her couple when she explains to them what ‘beating your face‘ means. No one is too old to learn.

Bianca and her bride conspire to makeover their groom. Joslyn is excited about weddings in general. Her groom is not so into it. I mean, he’s really not into it. He must really love his girl because he is completely uncomfortable. BenDeLaCreme’s bride lady has never seen her fiance without a beard, so DeLa is nervous about what’s under that beard.

Darienne’s couple is into goth, which momentarily freaks Darienne out. All of the wedding stuff is white & silver! Where is she going to get black stuff! Ah! Adore should’ve gotten that couple for sure. Adore is having a good time with her couple, but her bride is into Vera Wang and elegance. I’m sorry lady bride but that will not be happening.

Courtney is being challenged by her very tall and very manly groom. Courtney’s not used to working on anything for anyone else. Courtney doesn’t like anyone else to be prettier than her which could be a problem as everyone is supposed to focus on the bride & not the mother of the bride.

Bianca starts to become friends with her groom. He’s from Holland so he’s totally fine with everything. That’s pretty much all we get because we all know that Bianca is going to win this thing and people without hangups make for boring TV. Courtney momentarily rips on Bianca for making a dress of a similar shape to other dresses. Um, really Courtney? You’re always blonde & half naked, so I wouldn’t be all up on Bianca for a lack of versatility.

As a thank you to the guys, they get gift certificates to Klein, Epstein & Parker so they can have suits as sharp as Ru’s. Ru doesn’t tell them how much the certificates are worth. Might only get them half a pant.

And then more Adore freakout. Of course over the past few weeks Adore has not become an amazing seamstress, imagine that. The other queens can smell the weakness coming off her and dig into her in the workroom. It’s a bit beyond shade & quite unbecoming, queens!

Shady, shady Courtney Act.

Joslyn’s groom brings up the issues of being gay in sports and how he’ll be treated in the locker room, even though he’s not gay. He’s not comfortable getting makeup put on. He’s horrified that he’ll have hips. It’s an all-too-brief conversation, and you can tell even he’s confused about the issues, but this isn’t PBS. He doesn’t have problems with gay people, but he would want to know who is gay in the locker room. But he also doesn’t want to have a gay person checking him out. So he wants gay players to come out, but he doesn’t want them to come out. Like I said, he’s confused. Hopefully we’ll get into this topic more in Untucked.

Bianca thinks Joslyn’s bride looks like the girl gremlin from the 1990 “classic” Gremlins 2. Let’s compare, shall we?

Family resemblance?
Or family resemblance?

For the runway show the contestant have to escort their drag daughter down the aisle. Bianca totally hams up the ‘giving away the bride vibe.’ BenDeLaCreme does a bunch of ‘cleaning up the bride’ bits. Joslyn has to drag her bride down the aisle. Literally. He’s getting ready to bolt.

Ru then performs their wedding ceremonies sitting down. SITTING DOWN? What the hell is that? I love you Ru, but stand up for that stuff. They are, for the most part, genuinely sweet and heartfelt. Darienne’s couple peppers their ceremony with a Drag Race catchphrases which is cute but less emotional than the other vows. It’s very sweet that we get to see all of their weddings.

Joslyn gets read for her makeup skills on her bride. Her bride gets so upset about being in drag he throws up. Thankfully the sounds are kept to a minimum. I hope he gets more crap from his teammates for throwing up than he does for the drag.

Courtney gets read because her bride looks like her mother. Michelle is not having Courtney’s looking better than her bride. Bianca gets read for not giving her bride for a train. She reminds the judges that her bride is dealing with shoes, lashes and having his balls in his ass for the first time, she certainly wasn’t going to make her deal with a train too.

BenDeLaCreme gets high marks, and it’s very pretty but did anyone else notice that DeLa’s wedding dress is pretty darn close to the dress she made in week 1? I mean, if you can only make one kind of dress, at least you can make one dress, unlike Adore.

Based on the critiques it’s likely Bianca and BenDeLaCreme on top. Everyone else gets read for one thing or another. Adore is put in the bad-bad camp, but we know she’s not going home.

Of course Bianca wins AND she gets a trip for 2 to Hawaii. Her couple also receives a trip to Hawaii. Adore is in the bottom two. Courtney Act is safe. Joslyn Fox is in the bottom two. Darienne is safe.

So it’s Joslyn Fox vs Adore Delano in the lip-synch for your life. They’re lip synching to Think by Aretha Franklin. Adore claims she’s going to get church on this bitch. And she does. Joslyn is a bit stiff in her performance. She’s probably used to performing to a lot sexier numbers and isn’t as confident with a more emotional/less poppy song.

Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka clap like they’re watching golf & not drag queens

So who went home on RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 6 Episode 10? It’s Joslyn’s time to go home. Many have felt it was beyond her time to go but I don’t know. She may have been awkward, but she was one of the sweetest queens on RPDR. Ru and Joslyn share a ‘wah-wah’ boob lift in solidarity. We know she will keep it Foxy.

Who will the queens decide needs to go home next? Adore? Darienne? Dare I say, Courtney? Adore is obvious – she’s LSFYL twice now. Darienne is kind of coasting. Courtney however seems to have caught Michelle Visage’s eye, and not in a good way.

Who do you think will be the next to go?
