On the Monday, June 16, installment of ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live, key players from the Los Angeles Kings will visit following their Stanley Cup victory over the New York Rangers. Conn Smythe winner Justin Williams, along with teammate and scorer of the double-overtime winning goal, Alec Martinez, will talk to Kimmel about their second NHL championship in three seasons. The Stanley Cup trophy itself is also expected to make an appearance.
And, also appearing on tonight’s Jimmy Kimmel Live will be New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, who will be making good on a bet he made with Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti prior to the start of the Stanley Cup championship series between their cities’ teams. Had the New York Rangers won the cup, Mayor Garcetti would have performed a rendition of “New York, New York,” on Kimmel’s show. But the Kings, in fact, won, so de Blasio will now be performing a rendition of “I Love LA” on the show tonight. De Blasio will be performing the song via satellite from Times Square, and accompanied by New York City’s 52nd Street Project chorus, a group of students between the ages of 9 and 18. Mayor Garcetti will be enjoying the performance alongside Kimmel in his Los Angeles studio.
Also as part of the bet, the losing mayor would provide a local favorite for everyone in Kimmel’s audience. Mayor de Blasio will be importing hot dogs from Grays Papaya (if New York had won, Mayor Garcetti would have provided Pink’s Hot Dogs).
Jimmy Kimmel Live airs at 11:35pm ET on ABC.
