TLC airs Kate Plus Eight: Sextuplets Turn 10 in two-part special

It’s going to be an exciting night on TLC tomorrow, as the network welcomes back their favorite mom of sextuplets — Kate Gosselin— for a two-part special titled Kate Plus Eight: Sextuplets Turn 10 airing on Thursday, June 19 at 10pmET/9pmCT (directly following the premiere of Here Comes Honey Boo Boo — yep, she’s still around), and the second part airing Thursday, June 26 at 10pmET/9pmCT.

In 2008, Kate and Jon Gosselin were the must-watch family of reality TV, where TLC cameras followed their every move in raising their twin daughters and 4-year-old sextuplets in Jon & Kate Plus 8. Fame eventually changed their once adorable home life, and their bitter divorce ignited a media maelstrom.
Despite their split, TLC continued to follow the family, without Jon, in Kate Plus 8 for two additional seasons. While Kate has worked to stay in the spotlight, appearing on Dancing With the Stars and next up Celebrity Apprentice, the children have remained completely out of it — until now (well, almost out of it, they did have that awkward Today show interview with just the twins).

“We’re doing this reunion show/special with Kate and the kids because it’s been a couple of years since we’ve caught up with the family and we wanted to see how they are doing and what life is like for them today. The Gosselins have been a part of our TLC family for years, and we felt it was time to check in, especially with the sextuplets approaching their 10th birthday,” says Wendy Douglas, executive producer. “We cover a day in the life with Kate and the kids. What is a typical day like for them? How have things changed/stayed the same in their household? We’re able to join them as they prepare for the sextuplets’ 10th birthday bash; we’ll hear some reflections from Kate and the kids on the past, as well as thoughts on life today and the future, and as we’ve done for many years. We’ll celebrate the sextuplets 10th birthday with them.”

Could the future hold another reality series for the family? In an awkward Today show interview earlier this year, twins Cara and Mady said they definitely would be open to it. And, when we asked TLC’s Douglas the same, she said, “You have to watch the special to find out.”

Part 1 of the Kate Plus Eight: Sextuplets Turn 10 airs on Thursday, June 19 at 10pmET/9pmCT and the second part airs Thursday, June 26 at 10pmET/9pmCT. TLC did update the date of this special (it no longer airs on the 25th).
