1) You’re at a magazine rack and can only pick three titles. Which ones do you choose?
Outsider Magazine would be one, something like Psychology Today, I like brainy things. And some fashion magazine.
2) If your TV carried just three shows or networks, what would they be?
Hallmark Channel, HBO because my daughter is on HBO so I’ve got to watch that. And I love the news.
3) What are three things that you have to have in your fridge or pantry?
Vegetables, fruit and nuts.
4) What has been your strangest or funniest fan encounter?
It’s interesting now, with social media, you are actually interacting with fans. And I have this one sweet fan and she came to see me at a charity event. This fan I have known from Twitter had asked to have her picture taken with me. Halfway through the event, I tweeted, looking for her and she replied back, “That was me who took the picture with you.” And I tweeted back, “why didn’t you say hello?” And she was too shy to say hello.
It was very sweet, she’s very sweet. She sends me sweet notes all the time and I’m one of those people, kindness to me, is the greatest. It gets me though every day. Any kind of kindness. Kindness can come from someone on Twitter, It can come from someone on the street, it can come from someone at work. Without kindness, I don’t know what I would do. The greatest part of life is the simple things.
5) Tell us about a time you were starstruck.
I don’t get starstruck very often because I’ve met so many people, but the first time I went to the Academy Awards, it was interesting. I hadn’t lived in Hollywood and I hadn’t hobnobbed much with “Hollywood People,” and I got out of the limo, and Anjelica Huston turned around and said, “Hello Andie,” like she knew me and I said, “Hello Anjelica.” And the rest of the night was like that. Everyone said “hello” to me like they knew me — John Travolta — anyone! It was surreal, the whole night was completely surreal. Everyone spoke to me like they knew me. I guess when you establish yourself and do something that people like, all of a sudden, your peers all treat you like you’re one of the gang. It’s a fascinating experience.
6) What is a movie you can watch over and over again?
Oh, there are lots of movies, I can watch over an over. I love Forrest Gump; I like sweet, cheery, happy movies. But it has some dark moments too. Annie Hall, I love Annie Hall. And To Kill A Mockingbird.
7) If you could have any talent that you don’t currently possess, what would it be?
I want to be able to speak every language. If I could have any talent and I get to choose it, and be naturally gifted and speak every language. It’s not going to happen, but it sure would be nice. It’s a good wish.
