GSN’s Skin Wars showcases America’s top body painters

As artwork has captivated the world for centuries in countless different forms that continue to evolve over time, the possibilities and canvases are endless. Made popular through music videos, movies and television, body painting has become a new wave of art that allows artists to literally make their art come alive. GSN’s new competition show, Skin Wars, provides an inside look at the astonishing skills it takes to be a body painter combined with the excitement of competition.

With a grand prize of $100,000 at stake, ten talented artists are risking it all to accomplish their dreams. Host Rebecca Romijn — who was virtually naked except for head-to-toe body paint in her role as X-Men’s Mystique — lends advice and opinion as the competitors are given a set time frame to transform their models via paint and airbrush in challenges that include turning humans into realistic animals and representing the artists’ hometowns.

After the models walk the runway, the winner of each episode is determined. Three finalists will ultimately compete for the grand prize.

The expert judges include award-winning body painters Craig Tracy and Robin Slonina, and fashion and entertainment icon RuPaul who consider the attention to detail in the artwork and how well each artist’s concept and design is brought forth in their finished canvases to decide who is safe from elimination — and who will walk away a whole lot richer.

Skin Wars premieres Wednesday, Aug. 6 at 9/8CT on Game Show Network.
