President Barack Obama will deliver the 2015 State of the Union address to a joint session of Congress, and the American people, on Jan. 20 at 9pm ET. Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA) will deliver the Republican response. Again, various networks will feature live coverage of the Obama address and the response. Here’s where to watch; all times Eastern.
ABC — Live coverage begins at 9pm on Jan. 20. George Stephanopoulos leads the coverage live from Washington, D.C. Following the address, ABC will carry the Republican response. World News Tonight Anchor David Muir will broadcast the evening news program from Capitol Hill and report throughout the night on major topics before and after the State of the Union address and Republican response. The ABC News political team including Chief White House Correspondent Jonathan Karl and Chief Global Affairs Correspondent Martha Raddatz with report on the latest news and developments with analysis by ABC News Political Analyst Cokie Roberts and Contributors Matthew Dowd, Nicolle Wallace and Donna Brazile. At 12:35am Nightline will feature the highlights from the address. The next morning Stephanopoulos will anchor Good Morning America from D.C., covering the main points from the address and GOP response.
Al Jazeera America — Al Jazeera America will offer in-depth news and analysis on the State of the Union address live from New York and Washington, D.C. on Tuesday, January 20, from 7pm- midnight. Primetime anchor John Seigenthaler will broadcast live from NY along with Al Jazeera America anchors Tony Harris, Ray Suarez and White House correspondent Mike Viqueira along with NYU Professor of Campaign Management Jeanne Zaino. The network will air special State of the Union programming focusing on major issues facing the nation and the world including: global extremism after the Paris massacre, the economy, gridlock politics, race relations after Ferguson, and immigration.Guests will include: Colonel Cedric Leighton, former Air Force Colonel/former member of joint chiefs; Ambassador James Jeffries, former ambassador to both Iraq and Turkey and former Deputy National Security Advisor; Tricia Rose, Brown University professor of Africana Studies; Cesar Vargas, Dream Action Coalition; Mo Elleithee, DNC Communications Director. From 7-7:30pm, the network will air a special edition of Real Money with Ali Velshi: “The State of the Economy.” (An hour-long version of this show will air later in the evening.) From 7:30-9pm, the network will present pre-speech countdown with poll results and team coverage including remotes from Peter Sharp in Moscow, Jane Arraf in Baghdad and David Ariosto in Havana. At 9pm ET, from the Newseum in Washington, D.C., Al Jazeera America will present live coverage of the President’s address, the GOP response, and analysis and commentary.
Bloomberg TV — Bloomberg Politics’s Mark Halperin and John Heilemann will anchor primetime coverage of President Obama’s State of the Union address from 8-11pm, joined by Bloomberg View’s Al Hunt and a panel of top political analysts including Carly Fiorina, Anita Dunn and John Sununu. Throughout the night, Bloomberg correspondents Phil Mattingly, Peter Cook and Margaret Talev will be reporting in from the White House and Capitol Hill.
C-SPAN — Coverage of the address and Republican response begins Jan. 20 at 8pm on C-SPAN, C-SPAN.org and C-SPAN Radio. Following the speech, C-SPAN will offer a review. There will also be viewer reaction, and reactions from members of Congress. Former House historian Ray Smock will kick off the night with a look at the history of the speech. The speech will be replayed at 11pm.
CBS — Scott Pelley anchors CBS’ coverage of the address beginning at 9pm on Jan. 20. He’ll be joined by Bob Schieffer, Norah O’Donnell, Major Garrett, Nancy Cordes and John Dickerson. CBSN, which is available on CBSNews.com, will feature coverage beginning at 8pm, and live, anchored coverage following the simulcast of the address.
CNBC — CNBC.com will livestream the State of the Union and feature a live blog with commentary from CNBC Digital newsgathering staff and CNBC network talent and contributors.
Centric — A BET News Special of President Barack Obama’s State of the Union address will be airing on Centric, hosted by Marc Lamont Hill, Jan. 20 at 9pm. The address will be followed by a special talk back powered by viewer submitted tweets.
CNN — Wolf Blitzer, Anderson Cooper and Jake Tapper will lead the network’s comprehensive coverage of President Barack Obama’s sixth State of the Union Address on Jan. 20, beginning at 7pm CNN’s Erin Burnett OutFront will kick off the evening’s coverage live from Capitol Hill. The Republican response will follow the president’s address. Throughout the evening, news and commentary will be provided by Gloria Borger, John King, Michael Smerconish, along with the network’s political contributors. Jim Acosta will provide updates from the White House and Dana Bash will report live from the halls of the U.S. Capitol. The entire evening’s analysis can also be viewed at CNN.com/go by logging in through a cable or satellite provider.
CNN en Español — Beginning at 8:30pm, Juan Carlos López will offer special coverage from Havana, joined by Ione Molinares from Washington. Following the speech, Fernando del Rincón will host a special edition of Conclusiones with the Republican response in Spanish.
FOX (broadcast) — Fox News Channel’s Shepard Smith will anchor separate live coverage beginning at 9pm. Contributions will also be provided by Fox News Sunday’s Chris Wallace.
FOX Business Network (FBN) — FBN’s Neil Cavuto will anchor a FOX Business Special Report with live coverage of President Obama’s State of the Union address on Jan. 20 starting at 8pm. Cavuto will be joined by FBN’s Peter Barnes and Rich Edson, who will be providing live reports from Washington, DC. Following the address, FBN will present a live special edition of Stossel, hosted by John Stossel, at 11pm. Guests Include: Rep. Kristi Noem (R-SD), Rep. Henry Cueller (D-TX), Rep. Charlie Rangel (D-NY), Gov. Mary Fallin (R-OK), former United States Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Henry Cisneros, Sen. Steve Daines (R-MT), among others.
Fox News Channel (FNC) — Fox News will present live coverage of the State of the Union address and the Republican response from Washington, D.C., on Jan. 20 beginning at 8:55pm. Special Report’s Bret Baier will anchor the special coverage and moderate a panel of commentators, including FNC contributors Steve Hayes, George Will, Juan Williams and Nina Easton. Additionally, chief White House correspondent Ed Henry and chief congressional correspondent Mike Emanuel will provide live reports from the White House and Capitol Hill, respectively. Special editions of The O’Reilly Factor and The Kelly File will air at 8pm and 11pm, respectively.
MSNBC — Rachel Maddow and Chris Matthews will host MSNBC’s coverage of the State of the Union address, and the Republican response, beginning at 8pm on Jan. 20. They will be joined by Chris Hayes, Reverend Al Sharpton, Kasie Hunt, Steve Kornacki and MSNBC contributors Steve Schmidt, Robert Gibbs, Michael Steele, Eugene Robinson, and Victoria DeFrancesco Soto. NBC News Chief Foreign Affairs Correspondent and MSNBC host Andrea Mitchell, Ed Schultz and Luke Russert will report live from Washington, D.C., and José Díaz-Balart will participate from Miami. Matthews will also anchor an additional live hour of coverage from 12am–1am.
NBC — NBC News will provide complete coverage and analysis of President Barack Obama’s State of the Union address and the Republican response from Sen. Joni Ernst. The broadcast will begin at 9pm across the NBC television network and will stream live on NBCNews.com. “NBC Nightly News” anchor and managing editor Brian Williams will anchor live from Washington, DC, joined on set by “Meet the Press” moderator and NBC News political director Chuck Todd, NBC News chief foreign affairs correspondent Andrea Mitchell, NBC News senior White House correspondent Chris Jansing, and NBC News senior political analyst Joe Scarborough. The coverage will also feature NBC News White House correspondent Kristen Welker, “Noticiero Telemundo” anchor Jose Diaz-Balart, and NBC News Capitol Hill correspondent Kelly O’Donnell inside the House chamber. Beginning at 8:45pm ET, Brian Williams and the NBC News team will host a pre-speech live stream on NBCNews.com. Throughout the speech, Chuck Todd, Andrea Mitchell, Chris Jansing and others will answer viewers’ questions on the Meet the Press Facebook page.
PBS — PBS NewsHour will have live coverage of the State of the Union address Jan. 20 at 9pm. In addition to a live broadcast of the President’s remarks and the GOP response, co-anchors Gwen Ifill and Judy Woodruff will be joined by syndicated columnist Mark Shields and New York Times columnist David Brooks to discuss the President’s speech in depth. The network will also feature a live stream at pbs.org/newshour.
