RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 7 Snatch Game recap!

Kandy Ho from RuPaul's Drag Race Season 7
Kandy Ho

It’s Christmas in April because it’s finally time for the RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 7 Snatch Game episode! Screw the mini-challenge! There’s only room for one challenge this episode!

And in the vein of “you have no idea unless you saw the preview” both Max and Violet are planning on doing Donatella Versace. Kennedy claims that she hasn’t thought of who she’s going to do on Snatch Game.

WHO GOES ON DRAG RACE WITHOUT THINKING OF THEIR SNATCH GAME CHARACTER?!

Ru does her typical Jedi mind tricks on the contestants as she walks around the workroom checking in with them. She tells Fame not to give in to Violet and do Donatella herself instead of the Long Island Medium. Katya’s addicted to fear (I smell a preview of things to come). Kennedy has to make decisions on her own instead of asking Ru what she should do. No one cares if Jaidynn could actually see herself hanging out with Raven Symone. Everyone else is either on the right track or has no immediate emotional buttons to push.

In the end we don’t get two Donatellas on stage. Duh. Of COURSE we weren’t going to get two of the same character on Snatch Game. Violet goes with Alyssa Edwards and does a good job with it, especially if she really wasn’t planning on doing Alyssa Edwards. Kennedy goes with Little Richard. Little. Richard.  It’s a gamble but she’s funny.

Our Snatch Game players are Tamar Braxton and Michael Urie. Once again, Fame doesn’t really seem like she listens to the questions. Every time we see her responses, she’s got pat answers. Pearl’s Big Ang is awesome. There are a lot of strong performances this season, which is how it should be. These queens should’ve had these impressions down.

Max’s Sharon Needles is way off. There is no G rated version of Sharon Needles. Ginger Minj as Adele is great. Katya’s Suze Orman is pretty good. Jaidynn is ok, but she keeps repeating some staring off into space thing that must’ve been a part of That’s So Raven. I think it’s going to be Max & Fame in the bottom, if we’re basing just on the Snatch Game.

In getting ready for the runway, Katya is having a bit of a breakdown. She seeks out Fame since she knows that Fame is also sober, so she knows what Katya is going through. (This is why we saw Fame’s not-too-emotional message from her mother in last week’s Untucked.) They share about staying sober in the pressure cooker that is Drag Race. We love you guys!

The runway theme is leather & lace. It’s not my favorite runway theme – it’s too easy to go super tacky. I know, these are drag queens. Tacky is sometimes the point. Violet and Pearl are safe & get to leave to talk about everyone else. I’ll post what better be a shady Untucked here when it goes up tomorrow morning.

On the mainstage when Max was getting her critique, she decides she needs to undo her corset. Then the crew has to help her. Then she starts singing. No one’s sure if she’s actually doing poorly or if she’s acting. I’m feeling very uncomfortable right now. And then she’s fine. Okey dokey then.

Katya is safe. Kennedy ends up winning for her Little Richard. Ginger Minj is also the winner of the challenge. TWO! Two challenge winners! They both win feather accoutrements.

Up for elimination is Jaidynn Diore Fierce and Max. Miss Fame is safe. We know Jaidynn can lipsynch. We’ll see how Max can do. The song definitely favors Jaidynn as it’s not a 1930’s German cabaret song or showtune. Jaidynn’s way higher energy, although that doesn’t mean much. We don’t get any commentary from the other queens during the lip synch. Will we have a non-elimination? There’s a conjoined twin challenge next week, so an odd number of queens wouldn’t work for that team *sigh* challenge.

In the end Max is eliminated, but then Ru wonders if she let one of the eliminated queens go too early. Of course she did. So we’ll have to wait until next week to find out which eliminated queen will return for next week’s conjoined twin challenge. I know the buzz online is that Trixie is coming back, but of those 7 girls, Max is probably the one who should return, at least in my opinion.

By the way, if you can’t get enough RuPaul, check out the Good Work premiering tomorrow on E! Ru is leading this show too, all about plastic surgery. And Skin Wars season 2 premieres in June. This has been your RuPaul media domination update.

What did you think of Max’s elimination? Who do you think is coming back next week? Let’s start speculating!

Hey Kids!

I don’t normally embed these, but this week’s Whatcha Packin is a good one – see what Max’s family did for her trip to Drag Race. It’s so cute!

Ah! We’ll see how long Logo keeps this up on the web, but here’s a sneak peek at episode 8. There’s a special guest you’re gonna love! Yay!
