You might have seen the pretty amazing and cool shot below making the rounds on the Internet recently. It depicts a cameraman getting up close and personal with a 14-and-a-half-foot great white shark off the southern coast of Australia.
Discovery Channel confirmed today that that image, and the footage with it, is part of the network’s upcoming Shark Week 2015, which begins July 5.

As the cameraman explains in the clip below, the female shark, which he describes as “one of the most remarkable animals I’ve ever seen,” became “extremely inquisitive about what we were and what we were doing.”
Naturally, without hands, the shark began exploring the area in the only way she knew how — with her mouth.
“The photograph is quite dramatic,” the cameraman continues, “but it really highlights how awesome these apex predators are.”
Shark Week 2015 premieres July 5 on Discovery Channel.
