I was lucky enough to get an exclusive clip from the series premiere from Discovery Family Channel and here it is, ICYMI.
In celebration of 35 years of Strawberry Shortcake (Cue me feeling very old) and the June 20 season premiere, Strawberry Shortcake and Cherry Jam spent time with some lucky fans as they helped plant a community garden. The event held June 13 in LA’s Glassell Park, was a fun family event embracing the show’s core values of friendship, caring and sharing. And best of all, members of the community were invited to roll up their sleeves and participate in a hands-on strawberry planting extravaganza. The Glassell Park Community Garden is the site of a former drug house in an area notoriously ravaged by crime. Five years ago, it opened as a community garden and has helped transform life for many of the families in Glassell Park.
Depending on the kid, meeting Strawberry and Cherry live and in person could either be a living nightmare of a dream come true. My nieces would have been the kids begging their parents to have life-sized Strawberry Shortcake come live with them. And in the interest of full disclosure, my sister’s early ’80s Pupcake Doll (with the purple dog tag that smells soooo yummy) is still her most treasured possession. So, we’re berry, berry big SC fans.
(Here’s a throwback to my favorite SC song from when I was a kid)
