Survivor: Second Chance recap Season 31, Episode 5 “A Snake in the Grass” (original airdate Oct. 21): After 11 days Angkor is down to just four tribe members but they finally caught a break and avoided Tribal Council in Survivor: Second Chance’s fifth episode. In a welcome change of pace, Bayon was seated around the Tribal fire where a major blindside resulted in Monica heading home. But let’s start at the beginning and give a quick rundown of the episode.
Abi is still queen bee. She kept Woo in the game and if Woo dares to cast another vote against her (he’s already voted for her twice), he’s going to be a dead man walking. Like seriously, she’s capable of going bat-shit crazy on the guy.
Reward Challenge
The challenge involves three people being tied together and rolling their fourth team member, who is inside a barrel, to collect a number of bags filled with balls. No one is overly dizzy by the challenge. They use the balls to complete a skeet ball like challenge.
Sitting out this challenge: Dietz and Cass, and Fishbach and Wiglesworth.
In the barrels: Woo, Monica and Wentworth.
Monica sucks at the challenge, and Probst happily lets her know, thinking she’s moving as slow as … a Sunday picnic at a church.
Keith wins the challenge for Ta Kao – they get a super sweet comfort reward, which includes chairs, pillows, blankets, a hammock and refreshments.
Woo takes second for Angkor. They win a tarp.
As for Bayon, it was a total bust. Jeremy struggled with the skeet ball so Spencer stepped in and definitely helped them catch up, but it wasn’t enough for a win.
Back at their respective camps, Dietz says winning has been the “elixir” and confidence builder for Ta Kao. But while Dietz is out snorkeling later, the rest of his tribe is in cahoots determining who they — they being Keith, Cass, Wentworth, Joe and Sierra — think will be the final five.
So Woo tells this personal story about his mom getting a second chance at life with a heart transplant. Well, that annoys Abi, as she thinks he’s playing the sympathy card. “Should I start telling all my personal stories too?” she mocks to Tasha. I’m thinking, “for sure – let’s hear it girl!” We don’t get much – just something about her knee, her aunt and her grandma.
But Abi is exhausting Tasha. “Abby takes everything in me to just to be around her,” Tasha confesses. “It takes work working with Abi.”
Immunity Challenge
The immunity challenge involved using a slingshot to hit a target. Apparently Joe already played this one and lost in his season.
Sitting out for Ta Kao are Sierra and Kelly Wentworth.
Bayon sits out Jeremy and Monica.
Who rocked It: Not Fishbach, the poor guy accidentally hit one of the targets for Angkor (and it counted for them). Woo takes the assist and finishes it off for Angkor and they win their first immunity challenge. Joe and Keith were solid for Ta Keo, they took second. Spencer has been a force for Bayon but he couldn’t pull it off.
