Remember that steamy dream Jane had about Professor Chavez in last week’s episode of Jane the Virgin? Let’s be real, how could anyone forget that?! Clearly our girl Jane hasn’t forgotten a single detail from that fantasy dream. Xo wants her to try to make it a reality but Jane thinks it would be unprofessional since Chavez is her advisor. It’s a telenovela, Jane — go for it!
Thanks to the amazing technology we have today — and the chip that Michael cut out of his leg — the police found out that Elena might be Rose’s stepmother. This show just keeps on getting better with every twist!
Now that Jane has finally finished her story, she’s able to read it out loud to her class. Also in the audience is Jane’s family — and of course her sexy advisor, Professor Jonathan Chavez. Even though this is a romance story, I’m really digging it.
I can also tell that Professor Chavez is enjoying the story by the huge grin he has on his face. What I doubt he saw coming was Jane’s slip of the tongue as she changed the main character’s name in the story to Jonathan. Oops. I guess she really got into her storytelling.
Rogelio’s mother Liliana has finally acting civil to Xo. In fact, now that she’s getting divorced from Rogelio’s father, she offered her son her very own wedding ring to use to propose to Xo.
After trying to baby-proof Rogelio’s apartment, Xo ended up finding the ring. Since Jane overheard Liliana’s conversation with Rogelio, she told Xo about the possible proposal. Unfortunately, it looks like Rogelio had other plans for that ring. Once the girls spilled the beans that they found the ring, he told Jane that he wanted her to have it as a special family heirloom. That definitely had to hurt!
But wait. Rogelio is going to propose to Xo. Yes! Except Mateo ate the diamond that Rogelio bought for the setting. Clearly Jane is furious —but she’s more so upset at herself for trusting her dad to watch Mateo. Come on, Jane, go easy on Rogelio. He hasn’t watched a baby before and was only trying to play a game of hide-and-seek with the diamond. Mateo just ended up winning.
Turns out Professor Chavez’s mom is a huge Rogelio fan. Since Jane wants to impress Chavez, she tells him she can set up a date for him and his mom to tour the set with her. While it might not be a real date, Jane will take whatever she can.
Xo tells Jane to watch out for signs that might prove Chavez is interested in something more than just a professional relationship. As the gentleman escorts Jane to her car, he leans in. Jane gets excited and views this gesture as the last item on her check-off list and takes a shot. She leans in for a kiss but misses. Professor Chavez appears to have been leaning towards opening the car door instead of Jane’s lips. Now Jane has to get out of the awkward situation of kissing Chavez’s sweater. I hope it was at least soft and smelled nice.
Oh no! Rafael might want to get back with Petra! After working together to get The Marbella back on top with a high-profile wedding, the two started to get the feels. They reminisced on how things were when they just met and everything turned back to love land with them. Rafael even leaned in for a kiss! Luckily Petra knows that Rafael isn’t over Jane yet and told him that they can’t try to get back together. Good job, Petra!
Rogelio finally proposed! Everything was adorable — until Xo broke Rogelio’s heart when she told him that she doesn’t want any more kids. This whole time Rogelio was dreaming of raising kids with Xo since he wasn’t able to be there to raise Jane. Not knowing if this would be a deal breaker for him, Rogelio told Xo that he’d have to think about his proposal. Will anything happy happen in this episode?
A-ha, there we go! Jane realizes that she needs to switch advisors because, now that she crossed the line, she can’t go back. As soon as she’s done telling this to Professor Chavez, he asks her out on a date. I think he was waiting for the moment when she was no longer his student so he could ask her out.
What were your thoughts on tonight’s episode of Jane the Virgin? Do you find it twisted that Elena is Rose’s stepmom? I just feel bad for Luisa because she’s the one who has her heart invested in Rose. A lot of fans don’t want Jane dating, but I personally don’t mind it. What are your thoughts on her date with Professor Chavez? I think I’m more upset about Rafael trying to get back with Petra. It seems like he’s just moving on from one baby momma to the next. He needs to realize that he’s the one who pushed Jane away, not the other way around. Did your heart break for Rogelio when he proposed and Xo didn’t immediately say yes? I agree with “E.”. They began to lose me as soon as they strayed away from the whole point of the series which was Jane and Rafael being fated for each other. I think the Chavez thing was a distraction but it does make her appear incredibly changeable, like a young teen. Now it appears they’re trying to reunite her with Michael and that’s just taking you back to the beginning so what was the point? I’ve decided to stop watching. I check the previews to see if the story is going in the right direction. Until it does, I’m not watching.
I agree. The show is losing me. I don’t feel any chemistry with Jane and Jonathan Chavez. It also doesn’t make sense that she could that quickly lose all of her feelings for Rafael. I’m having a hard time rooting for her when she’s acting boy crazy over every guy she meets now. She just seems superficial now.
I would like the writers to get back on track and bring the story back to Jane and Rafael and how they are destined to be together though their relationship started out “backwards” . The first season was magical. I really miss it.
I wasn’t like it Rafael and Petra no way once a cheater always a cheater Jane with Chavez no chemistry at all I home Michael don’t come to tell Jane that he lied about a girlfriend cause I think he did last season is my favorite Jane Rafael and Mateo I hope that Petra’s twin aren’t Rafael I want Jane and Rafael together..
