
The 2016 NASCAR season opens with Speedweeks at newly renovated Daytona International Speedway. Here’s a rundown of major Sprint Cup, Xfinity and Camping World Truck Series events at Daytona Feb. 13-21 on FS1 and FOX, culminating in the Sprint Cup Daytona 500:
Saturday, Feb. 13
The Sprint Unlimited
FOX, 8pm ET
The first event of the 2016 NASCAR Sprint Cup season, the non-points Sprint Unlimited is a 75-lap race featuring a field of 25 drivers made up of 2015 Chase participants, pole winners, former Sprint Unlimited winners and former Daytona 500 pole winners. FOX’s Mike Joy calls the race with analysts Darrell Waltrip and Jeff Gordon.
Sunday, Feb. 14
NASCAR Sprint Cup Daytona 500 Qualifying
FOX, 1pm ET
The first and second starting positions for the Daytona 500 will be up for grabs during qualifying on Sunday. The starting order for Thursday’s Can-Am Duel at Daytona will also be set.
Thursday, Feb. 18
Can-Am Duel At Daytona
FS1, 7pm ET
The starting order for Sunday’s Daytona 500 is determined at the Can-Am Duel at Daytona, a pair of 50-mile qualifying races that determine the starting lineup for Sunday’s Sprint Cup season-opening Daytona 500.
Friday, Feb. 19
NASCAR Camping World Truck Series NextEra Energy Resources 250
FS1, 7:30pm ET
NASCAR Camping World Truck Series drivers start their season at Daytona for the NextEra Energy Resources 250. Vince Welch, in his first year as FS1’s NCWTS play-by-play announcer, calls the race with analysts Phil Parsons and Michael Waltrip.
Saturday, Feb. 20
NASCAR Xfinity Series PowerShares QQQ 300
FS1, 3:30pm ET
The NASCAR Xfinity Series season gets underway on Saturday afternoon with the PowerShares QQQ 300 at Daytona International Speedway. Adam Alexander calls the action alongside Michael Waltrip and Kevin Harvick. NASCAR RaceDay prerace coverage begins at 3pm ET on FS1.
Sunday, Feb. 21
NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Daytona 500
FOX, 1pm ET
The 2016 NASCAR Sprint Cup season starts with the “Great American Race,” the Daytona 500 from Daytona International Speedway. Top contenders include Kevin Harvick, Carl Edwards, Martin Truex Jr., Jimmie Johnson, Dale Earnhardt Jr., 2015 Daytona 500 winner Joey Logano and reigning Cup Series champion Kyle Busch. Recently retired driver Jeff Gordon joins Mike Joy and Darrell Waltrip in the FOX broadcast booth.
