American Grit Season 1 Episode 4: Charlie Foxtrot

Team Noah’s success continued with yet another victory on American Grit.

They are clearly dominating. The green crew won the Charlie Foxtrot evolution, which called for observation and communication. The participants were tasked with memorizing various symbols and then going through obstacles to get back to the starting point. From there, they had to select those same symbols among decoys.

Noah’s group was the first to complete their puzzle board. Team Tee was so close, but again, no cigar for them.

This means more frustration from their opponents as they wonder what exactly they have to do to stop them. The teams come together to try to figure out a strategy to at least knock Team Noah down a notch.

They decide to not tell the Noah folks about their run-ins with The Circus. Jim wants to take it a step further by playing dirty or using some sort of mind game, but the others don’t really understand what he means by that or appear interested in whatever he may be thinking.

Nick decides to do an exercise with his group involving ghillie suits. I wish I had known about this sort of camouflage getup when I was growing up. I would never lose at hide-and-seek again.

Team Rourke went a different route with some knife training — team building at its best.

With Tony immune from going into The Circus this time around, Ivette was Team Tee’s only other remaining choice. Haze became the first person to take on the ultimate proving ground for the second time. This gives her somewhat of an advantage going in.

Team Nick decided on Maria, who isn’t necessarily getting along with her fellow comrade. It was a lose-lose situation for Cam. Either he loses another teammate or Haze, who he has connected during the experience.

It was down to the wire in The Circus with Ivette pulling off the upset over Haze at the last second. You can see host John Cena really invested in the race to the finish. He was almost jumping up and down as the two women fought for first place coming down the net.

The two earned their respective time to wait with Maria starting on the Tree Hugger endurance challenge. Once on the platform, each of the ladies had to wrap their arms around the post. They had to rotate between the lower and upper part of the tree until someone can’t go any longer. Ivette was shaky on the post and looking to be the most likely to ring out.

However, it was Maria who lost her footing nearing the one-hour mark. “The No Excuses Mom” had to say goodbye. Given Team Nick’s reaction — especially Jim’s — it seems they won’t miss her.

With the latest development, this means Noah is the only one out of the four teams still in the running for the full million dollars. The question is if they can maintain their position heading into the halfway point of the competition.
