Reluctant Traveler Eugene Levy Visits World’s Top Destinations

The Reluctant Traveler Apple TV+

Eight-episode docuseries The Reluctant Traveler follows Emmy Award-winning actor Eugene Levy as he (reluctantly) visits some of the world’s most beautiful and intriguing destinations.

From taking ice baths in the Arctic to sleeping next to a volcano in Costa Rica, and everything unusual you could possibly eat in between, Levy forces himself to go well outside his comfort zone for the sake of viewers, and sometimes even enjoys himself along the way.

“Finland was definitely the most fun I had. I now know why the Fins have been voted the happiest people in the world for five consecutive years,” Levy says. “South Africa was the best surprise. Going on safari never interested me. I had a pretty good idea what these animals looked like on TV. Did I need to travel 14 hours to see them attacking each other? But I not only felt an attachment to the landscape after I got there, the realization of the danger many of these animals are constantly in from poachers and hunters affected me greatly. I’m sure it wouldn’t have affected me near as much had I not actually been there.”

While he is somewhat reluctant, like the title says, the self-professed non-adventurous actor enjoyed the experience so much he said he would be open to filming another season. “I don’t think I would relish another night hike in a rain forest,” he added as an addendum. “Too many creepy crawly things.”

The Reluctant Traveler premieres Feb. 24 on Apple TV+.
