Single Ladies Decide if Country Livin’ is for Them in ‘Farmer Wants a Wife’

Farmer Wants a Wife FOX

In Farmer Wants a Wife — based on the most successful reality dating show franchise in the world, which has yielded over 160 marriages and 400 children — FOX brings four big-hearted, American farmers into the spotlight and helps them in their pursuit to find lasting love. Grammy and Broadway superstar Jennifer Nettles serves as host of the series.

“I was really surprised and delighted by the fact that this show is so authentic. It’s different to me,” Nettles says. “What I love about the people on this show is that they are in it for love. They are in it for the right reasons. They are real people who have other lives, who are not in it to become influencers [or famous], but instead are really putting themselves out there, being vulnerable and asking themselves what they’re willing to risk for love.”

Unlike other romantic reality shows, both the farmers and their participating prospects have vetted one another prior to the show’s start. The women will spend time with their selected farmer learning what life is actually like working their farms.

Nettles describes her role more like a “fairy godmother” and “mentor” who helps the farmers navigate this new type of dating life. “It’s quite intense for some of these folks, so I show up and help,” Nettles adds. And don’t expect some type of elimination or rose-passing-out ceremony. “This show is super authentic and it’s very organic. You will see there are moments where the women themselves are asking themselves, ‘Do I want this? Do I want to be in a relationship with this person? Do I want to explore that enough to uproot and change my life?’

And spoiler alert, not all of them might decide that it is something they want, which I find really refreshing and authentic.”

Farmer Wants a Wife premieres Wednesday, March 8, at 9pm ET/PT on FOX.
