Everything Everywhere All at Once Oscar winners Michelle Yeoh and Ke Huy Quan lead this genre-hopping, coming-of-age action comedy based on the graphic novel by Gene Luen Yang. It tells the story of Jin Wang (Ben Wang), an average teenager juggling his high school social life with his home life. When he meets a new foreign student on the first day of the school year, even more worlds collide as Jin is unwittingly entangled in a battle of mythological Chinese gods. The large cast of regulars and guest stars also includes Yeoh and Quan’s Oscar-nominated Everything Everywhere All at Once costar, Stephanie Hsu.

Inspired by the J.P. Pomare psychological thriller In the Clearing, this hair-raising Australian series follows a woman named Freya (Teresa Palmer) who must face her demons when a child goes missing and she suspects the cult she once escaped to be responsible. “Freya’s endured a childhood most wouldn’t even be able to imagine,” Palmer says of the role. “Her demons still follow her. She’s overprotective and paranoid at times.” Making it especially eerie is that the cult is based on a real-life community from rural Victoria, where the show was filmed. Costars include Miranda Otto and Guy Pearce. The first two episodes are available today; new episodes drop Wednesdays.

The Ultimatum: Queer Love

This expansion of The Ultimatum, a series that showcases stories of love, relationships, and the ups and downs of commitment, features five new couples made up of women and nonbinary people who are at a crossroads in their relationship. One partner is ready for marriage, while the other may have doubts, and an ultimatum is issued. In just over eight weeks, each couple will either get married or get out after they choose new potential partners in a life-changing opportunity to get a glimpse of two different futures. JoAnna Garcia Swisher hosts. Four episodes are available both today and next Wednesday, May 31; the season will conclude with two episodes on Wednesday, June 7.

Turner Classic Movies’ monthlong Wednesday celebration of iconic actor William Powell continues with eight films he made during the 1940s, beginning with the comedy Life With Father (1947), which earned him his third and last Best Actor Oscar nomination for his role as a strait-laced, turn-of-the-20th-century father who presides over a family of boys, and whose wife (Irene Dunne) is really the one who rules the roost. Following that is the 1946 drama The Hoodlum Saint, costarring Esther Williams; The Heavenly Body (1944), a romantic comedy also featuring Hedy Lamarr; I Love You Again (1940), a comedy that re-teams Powell with his Thin Man costar Myrna Loy and is directed by W.S. Van Dyke, who had directed the stars in the first four Thin Man movies; Crossroads (1942), a mystery that costars Lamarr, Claire Trevor and Basil Rathbone; Love Crazy (1941), a screwball comedy that pairs Powell and Loy once again; The Youngest Profession (1943), in which Powell makes a cameo as himself, along with other luminaries of the time, including Greer Garson and Lana Turner; and Ziegfeld Follies (1945), a musical comedy featuring Powell in the prologue, again portraying legendary theatrical impresario Florenz Ziegfeld Jr., after having played him in 1936’s The Great Ziegfeld.
