All hail the queens!
Oscar-nominated actress Angela Bassett narrates this exciting new seven-part documentary series focused on female leaders among the animal kingdoms.
All told from a female perspective, and helmed by a female-led production team, Queens (Mondays at 8pm ET/PT beginning March 4) highlights the sacrifices and challenges various matriarchs of different species must endure for the survival of their families, as well as their resilience, intelligence and ability to love those around them.
“In Queens, females drive the story,” shares Vanessa Berlowitz, an executive producer. “The most accomplished women in the industry get behind the camera to turn things on their heads, revealing surprising insights into how females rise to power, often relying on cooperation and wisdom over brute strength to get ahead.”
The sisterhoods of six distinct animal communities — hyenas, elephants, ring-tailed lemurs, insects, primates and killer whales — are shared.
Using cutting-edge technology to film close-ups of various female-led tribes — every episode focuses on a different area of the world, from the deserts of Africa to the middle of the rainforest — the series will give nature-hungry viewers a realistic and personal look into the daily life of nature’s “queens.”
