The gunman shot six people, including U.S. House Majority Whip Steve Scalise, U.S. Capitol Police officer Crystal Griner, congressional aide Zack Barth, and lobbyist Matt Mika. Capitol and Alexandria Police exchanged gunfire with the shooter for nearly 10 minutes before the gunman was fatally shot. FOX News White House correspondent Peter Doocy presents this three-part series looking back at the incident with firsthand accounts from witnesses, survivors and first responders. “There were many heroes on June 14, 2017, and I am honored to be able to help share their stories,” Doocy says.

Dee plays high schooler Francine “Gidget” Lawrence, who, over one impactful summer, develops a love for surfing and also finds love with a fellow surfer. Tonight, TCM primetime host Ben Mankiewicz is joined by director/screenwriter Gina Prince-Bythewood (Love & Basketball), who introduces two films of her choosing. Prince-Bythewood will offer commentary on each title’s cultural significance and its influence on other films, behind-the-scenes stories, and her own personal reflections on them. The titles she has chosen are Central Station (1998), a road drama from Brazil that was nominated for the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar and also netted star Fernanda Montenegro a Best Actress nod, and Fruitvale Station (2013), a biographical drama led by Michael B. Jordan that was writer/director Ryan Coogler’s feature directorial debut. Both films are making their TCM premieres.
