Bogdanovich also wrote the screenplay for this crime thriller, which stars Tim O’Kelly as a disturbed young gun collector who suddenly goes on a sniper killing spree, alongside Boris Karloff as an aging horror star contemplating retirement while wondering if scary movies can even compete with a modern culture that regularly features that sort of random violence. After that, and making its TCM premiere, is The Fan (1981), a psychological thriller led by Lauren Bacall as a famous actress who is stalked by a deranged and violent fan (Michael Biehn). James Garner and Maureen Stapleton costar. Moving into late night are four other movies falling under the theme of “More Creepy Cinema,” all of which are British horror cult classics: The Wicker Man (1973), led by Edward Woodward, Britt Ekland and Christopher Lee; The Lair of the White Worm (1988), a very loose adaptation of the novel by Dracula author Bram Stoker, directed by Ken Russell and starring Amanda Donohoe, Hugh Grant and Catherine Oxenberg; and The Reptile (1966) and The Plague of the Zombies (1966), two of the famed horror titles produced by Hammer Films.

Following that is Best Director Oscar nominee Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln (2012), led by Best Actor winner Daniel Day-Lewis in the title role. Former U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates cohosts the intro. Next is director Spike Lee’s Malcolm X (1992), starring Best Actor nominee Denzel Washington in the title role.
