Dr. Now Helps 10 People Struggling With Severe Obesity in ‘The 6,000-Lb. Diaries’ on Lifetime

The 6,000 LB Diaries With Dr. Now, Lifetime

Fans of Dr. Now (Younan Nowzaradan) and his My 600-Lb. Life TV series will be thrilled to see the world-famous weight-loss surgeon, now 80, back on TV, where he shares the stories of 10 patients struggling with extreme obesity (the collective group weighs in at 6,000 pounds).

The 6,000-Lb. Diaries With Dr. Now premieres on Lifetime Jan. 6 and airs Mondays at 9pm ET/PT on Lifetime.

The series is produced in partnership with his son Jonathan Nowzaradan and takes a unique approach in what they are calling “first-person storytelling” through patients’ own diary cameras.

“They are giving us confessionals and sharing whatever emotions they’re going through as they’re going through it,” Jonathan shares. “We focus on the emotional element in compulsive eating with this program.”

Dr. Now says that estimates indicate that by 2030, obesity will impact over half of the U.S. population. “We hope that these shows inspire other people to get help and to realize whatever they’re going through, if they’re in a situation like any of these participants, they’re not alone and there is help out there.”
