Renée Zellweger and Catherine Zeta-Jones (Best Supporting Actress Oscar winner) star as two vaudeville performers accused of separate murders who end up in an act together, even though they are enemies. Catch a Classic!
This 1963 film poses an irresistible dilemma: What happens when a Broadway theater critic must review his own wife’s play? Bob Hope stars as Parker Ballantine, whose marriage to playwright Angela (Lucille Ball) hits the rocks when he pans her debut. This marked the fourth and final pairing of Hope and Ball, two comedy legends who shared remarkable chemistry across radio, film and television. What makes this worth watching isn’t just the star power — it’s watching two masters of comic timing working with Don Weis’ snappy direction. Ball, already a TV icon from I Love Lucy, proves she can still command the big screen with physical comedy and razor-sharp line delivery. Hope, in one of his better film roles from the ’60s, plays against type as a man genuinely torn between professional integrity and marital harmony. The film captures that early ’60s moment when Hollywood sophistication met television’s broader comedy style. It’s also a surprisingly modern look at the challenge of maintaining separate professional identities within a marriage — wrapped in Technicolor glamour and rat-a-tat dialogue.

Despite their divergent personalities, they formed a close bond, collaborating on seven films over 11 years. Sixteen Candles (1984) follows, featuring Ringwald’s star-making performance as Samantha, whose family forgets her 16th birthday.
