Golf: The Masters: First Round
ESPN & Prime Video, beginning at 1pm Live

The Masters is known as “a tradition unlike any other,” and the 2025 tournament was definitely one for the ages. Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy won the Green Jacket in dramatic fashion after recording a bogey on the 18th hole and finishing 11 under par to force a sudden-death playoff against Justin Rose. But McIlroy needed only one hole to best Rose, sinking a nerve-rattling, four-foot putt to score a birdie and win by one stroke. After a long, difficult quest full of near misses and seven finishes in the top 10, McIlroy finally broke through with an emotional victory. In addition to claiming the elusive title of Masters champion, McIlroy also achieved the career Grand Slam, making him just the sixth man in history—and the first player from Europe—to have won all four major championships. McIlroy will be among the favorites returning for the first major of 2026, competing against the likes of Scottie Scheffler, Tommy Fleetwood, Collin Morikawa, Xander Schauffele and last year’s runner-up Rose. Augusta National itself will play slightly differently this year. The famous par-4 17th hole (“Nandina”) has been lengthened by about 10 yards, a rare course modification designed to maintain the hallowed course’s strategic bite against today’s long, precise golfers. For the first time, Prime Video offers two hours of exclusive live coverage of the first and second rounds. ESPN and CBS televise through Sunday. — Ryan A. Berenz

The night begins with The Masque of the Red Death (1964), starring Corman’s muse Vincent Price, one of eight films of Corman directed based on the works of Edgar Allan Poe. The New York Times described the film as “vulgar, naive and highly amusing, and it is played with gusto by Mr. Price, Hazel Court and Jane Asher. As for Mr. Corman, he has let his imagination run riot.” The film follows a troubled prince who terrorizes a disease-stricken village while he lives within a castle full of servants. The evening continues with The Wild Angels (1966), The Trip (1967), Gas-s-s-s (1970) and Bloody Mama (1970).
