Today, CBS announced its schedule for the upcoming 2013-14 season, which will include eight new series — five comedies and three dramas. Five new series will premiere in the fall, and three at midseason. In 2013-14, CBS will be expanding its comedy block on Thursdays from 8-10pm, and creating an encore hour for comedy broadcasts on Saturdays. CBS says it will finish this current season as the top-rated network in viewers for the 10th time in 11 seasons, No. 1 in the Adults 25-54 demo, and No. 1 in Adults 18-49 for the first time since the 1991-92 season. NBC has put out its lineup of primetime shows for the upcoming 2013-14 season, including returning series, and eight new dramas and six new comedies. NBC hopes its schedule this upcoming year will be bolstered by its coverage of the Winter Games in February 2014. Along with other cool announcements like next summer’s 24: Live Another Day, Kevin Reilly, chairman, entertainment for Fox Broadcasting Company, this morning unveiled the FOX primetime slate for the upcoming 2013-14 season. FOX is bringing back “24” as 12-episode event series “24: Live Another Day”

FOX announced today that its iconic series 24 will have its clock restarted in Summer 2014 with the airing of 24: Live Another Day, a 12-episode event series representing 24 hours. Actress Jeanne Cooper passed away this week at the age of 84. The Emmy-winning actress was best-known and beloved for her role as Katherine Chancellor for more than 39 years on the CBS daytime drama The Young and the Restless (the show’s longest-running cast member), which will honor her life with a special tribute episode on May 28. Thirtysomething, fourth-generation Japanese-American Jake Shimabukuro is the subject of the compelling portrait Jake Shimabukuro: Life on Four Strings. Jake Shimabukuro is a ukulele virtuoso, and you may have heard of and seen his YouTube video (which was posted anonymously) of him in Central Park playing “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” on his uke (see video below).
