Where to watch 2011 Oscar winners and nominees on TV

So, you say you never got around to seeing 2011 Best Picture Oscar winner The Artist in theaters? Or you passed on Hugo (pictured), but seeing it take home all those technical awards at the Oscars last night now has you intrigued? Or you live in an area where the Oscar-nominated documentaries never screened? Well, if you still want to catch some of these titles and can’t see them in theaters, you’re in luck, because a number of films that took home Oscar gold last night — or were at least nominated — are available for viewing right now, or […]

Adam Sandler shatters record for awfulness as 2011 Razzie Award nominations announced

It’s been a tradition since 1980 for The Golden Raspberry Awards (a.k.a. “The Razzies“) to serve as a tongue-in-cheek alternative to Oscar’s big night. Whereas the Academy Awards gala offers glitz, glamour and somewhat self-serving pats on the back from Hollywood peer to Hollywood peer, the Razzies have taken a different tact — recognizing what many of us filmgoers know, that much of what the Tinseltown dream factory churns out can be pretty dreadful. It had been typical for the Razzies to piggyback on the Oscars, announcing its “winners” the night before the Academy’s big event. But this year, the Razzies […]

“Red State” leads Movieguide’s list of Most “Unbearable” Movies of 2011

Those radical Hollywood elites were at it again in full force in 2011! At least, that’s the takeaway I got from an email I received yesterday on behalf of Movieguide®, a publication of Good News Communications, Inc. and the Christian Film & Television Commission ministry. In the email, the publication announced its picks for the worst movies of 2011, including a list of the 20 Most Unbearable Movies of 2011, also known as the Rotten Banana Awards. What set this list apart to me was the interesting — and, in some cases, very detailed — names of the Rotten Banana […]

TLC’s “The Little Couple” returns for Season 5 on March 20 (video)

Bill Klein and Jen Arnold are back for another season of TLC’s reality series The Little Couple, which chronicles their lives, on March 20 at 10pm ET/PT. The new season picks up after last season’s finale, where it was revealed that the couple’s surrogate, Cindy, suffered a miscarriage. Despite this heartbreaking setback, combined with the couple’s difficult fertility treatments, Bill and Jen’s desire to start a family propels them to try again, and even explore options outside of surrogacy. RELATED: THE LITTLE COUPLE SEASON 6 BEGINS APRIL 30, 2013 In addition to fertility trips in Los Angeles, and Dr. Arnold’s […]

Katy Perry to guest star on “Raising Hope”

When FOX announced its new Tuesday night half-hour comedy block, which begins March 6, some Raising Hope fans expressed concern about the show’s new time slot, 8pm ET/PT. Perhaps hoping to draw people in — and to kick off its new night of comedy with a “Firework” of sorts — the network has announced that pop superstar Katy Perry will be guest-starring on Raising Hope in the March 6 episode, “Single White Female Role Model.” Perry will play Rikki, a prison attendant who claims to be a friend from Sabrina’s (Shannon Woodward) past. In the new episode, Sabrina is arrested […]

“The X Factor” begins Season 2 auditions March 1

While it is also on the hunt for a couple of new judges to join Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid, as well as a new host (after the major revamp that saw former judges Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger, along with host Steve Jones, get the axe; Whitney Houston had been approached as a possible replacement judge before her untimely passing, and news today is that Janet Jackson is in early talks to be on the panel), The X Factor USA will begin its quest for Season 2 contestants in a few weeks. The audition process is being expanded to […]

“Simpsons” executive producer Al Jean talks Episode 500, the show’s history, and more

This Sunday, Feb. 19, at 8pm ET/PT, The Simpsons will air its milestone 500th episode, “At Long Last Leave,” in which the Simpson family is evicted from Springfield and joins an off-the-grid community outside of town. But it doesn’t look as if The Simpsons will be evicted from the hearts and minds of millions of fans any time soon. The show’s recent deal with FOX means it will be going through at least Episode 559, and the series remains a Sunday-night staple for the network, even in the wake of cast renegotiations and almost blasphemous rumors of cancellation recently. Given […]
