ABC 2014-15 primetime schedule

Today, the ABC 2014-15 primetime schedule was announced during the network’s annual upfront presentation. “Our schedule reflects a judicious mix of boldness and stability,” said Paul Lee, president of ABC Entertainment Group, in a release. Among the boldness is moving the smash-hit Scandal up one hour, to 9pm ET on Thursdays, to accommodate a new show from Shonda Rhimes — How to Get Away with Murder — at 10pm. Scandal seems like such a surefire show at this point, though, that it’s doubtful fans will not find it and get used to it at its new time. Also on Thursdays, […]

This seems to apply to both closed-ended, actual event series such as Gracepoint (based on the British series Broadchurch), coming this fall, along with midseason’s Wayward Pines, from M. Night Shyamalan, as well as regular series that will be brought out with a bang, like the network’s hyped reality series Utopia, and the much-buzzed-about Batman prequel Gotham. Discovery documentary looks at deadly Mount Everest avalanche

What began as efforts to begin production on the live Discovery Channel special Everest Jump Live — which would have seen climber Joby Ogwyn attempt to make the first wing suit flight off the summit of Mount Everest — turned into tragedy on April 18 when an avalanche struck the Khumbu Icefall, the area just above Mount Everest base camp. Interview: Josh Hartnett on Showtime’s “Penny Dreadful”

An overall sense of mystery has pervaded Showtime’s new psychological horror series Penny Dreadful, premiering Sunday, and that is probably fitting. The eight-episode Victorian-era series is set in 1891 London and focuses on some of the scariest characters in literature, including Dracula, Dorian Gray, and Dr. Frankenstein and his creature. Bringing the gruesomeness and horror to life is an eclectic cast that includes Josh Hartnett, Eva Green and Timothy Dalton. The show is created, written and executive produced by three-time Oscar nominee John Logan (Hugo, Gladiator), and also executive produced by Sam Mendes (Skyfall). “As the show sort of settles […]
