2011 U.S. Figure Skating Championships schedule on NBC and NBC Universal

Quick! Name the top U.S. women’s figure skater … No, I can’t either. It’s not like it used to be when Kristi Yamaguchi, Michelle Kwan and Sasha Cohen were household names. I’m told that’s Rachel Flatt we’ve got pictured here, but I couldn’t pick her out of a two-person lineup. Anyway, the only way for the new batch of unknown skaters to get some real recognition is by skating in major events in front of a national TV audience. NBC and Universal Sports have coverage of the U.S. Figure Skating Championships from Greensboro, N.C.,  Jan. 29-30. With there being no […]

2011 NFL Pro Bowl Jan. 30 on FOX

By Ryan Berenz After last year’s experiment of playing the AFC-NFC Pro Bowl at Miami’s Sun Life Stadium the week before Super Bowl XLIV, the NFL has decided to move the all-star spectacle back to Aloha Stadium in Honolulu. But while the site has changed, the date hasn’t. It will still be played the week before Super Bowl XLV, so don’t expect to see any players from the Green Bay Packers or Pittsburgh Steelers  in Honolulu. Top starters for the AFC are Philip Rivers, Arian Foster, Reggie Wayne, Ray Lewis and Darelle Revis. The NFC has Michael Vick, Michael Turner, […]

Where to watch the 2011 NHL All-Star Game

The 2011 NHL All-Star Game at RBC Center in Raleigh, N.C., eschews the traditional East vs. West matchup in favor of a format with a decidedly fantasy-hockey feel to it. Captains for each side will select their teams from a pool of 42 players chosen by fan balloting and the NHL in the 2011 All-Star Fantasy Draft on Jan. 28 (televised by Versus). After the 42 All-Stars were selected, the players elected captains — Hurricanes center Eric Staal and Detroit Red Wings defenseman Nicklas Lidstrom — to represent their teams. A coin toss will determine which team picks first, and […]
