Where to watch the 2010 British Open golf tournament

By Ryan Berenz Golf’s third major tournament of the year, the British Open, returns to the Old Course at St. Andrews in Scotland. St. Andrews, perhaps the most sacred ground in all of golf, first hosted the Open in 1873, and will host the tournament for the 28th time. Golf’s best, including Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Jim Furyk, Ernie Els, Lee Westwood, Steve Stricker and 2009 Open champion Stewart Cink compete for the famed Claret Jug. Last year’s Open provided plenty of drama as five-time Open champ Tom Watson, at age 59, made an incredible run but was denied when […]

2010 MLB All-Star Game airs on FOX

By Ryan Berenz Can you remember the last time the NL won an All-Star Game? It was July 9, 1996, with a 6-0 win over the AL. Since then, the AL has had complete dominance over the Senior Circuit, save for that unfortunate 7-7 in the 2002 game. Even when the NL seems to have it won, they still manage to pull defeat from the jaws of victory. Take the 2007 game in which the NL’s Aaron Rowand flew out with the bases loaded in the 9th inning to seal the AL’s 5-4 victory. Or take 2008’s 15-inning marathon at […]

Where to watch the 2010 MLB Home Run Derby

ESPN will air the 2010 State Farm Home Run Derby, annually one of the summer’s most popular TV sports events, on Monday, July 12, at 8pm ET. This year’s derby field is a little strange — there are no past winners participating, and no one from last year’s derby is in it this year (Prince Fielder, pictured, was last year’s winner). So here is the lineup of guys taking batting practice for three long, exhausting hours tonight: Corey Hart, Brewers Chris Young, Diamondbacks Nick Swisher, Yankees Hanley Ramirez, Marlins Vernon Wells, Blue Jays Miguel Cabrera, Tigers Matt Holliday, Cardinals David […]

Where to watch the Netherlands vs. Spain World Cup final match

The World Cup is down to its final match, and I am a little sad to see the tournament coming to an end. This is the most fun I’ve ever had watching soccer (which doesn’t say much, because I almost never watch it otherwise), and I want to especially thank Univision for streaming all the games for free (without the pesky ESPN3.com requirements). The Univision announcers have an infectious enthusiasm for the game, and even though I only understand about every fifth word they say, “Gooooooolaaaaaaaaaasssssooooooo!” needs no translation. ABC will air the final match between the Netherlands and Spain […]

LeBron James’ “The Decision” to air on ESPN

By Ryan Berenz I feel kind of dirty posting this, considering the absurdity of it all, but I’m sure this program will get a ton of viewers. Reports are that LeBron is favoring joining Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh in Miami, so maybe someone from a competing network will confirm it and report it before ESPN does and we can all skip this circus. (Yeah, I know about the proceeds going to charity thing. Doesn’t make it any less silly.) Here is the release from ESPN: “The Decision” to be Presented Live on ESPN Thursday at 9 p.m. ET LeBron […]
