Two years to the day, the TNA Impact Wrestling heavyweight champion will defend the gold against Bobby Lashley Sunday at 8/7CT on pay-per-view from Universal Orlando. Heading into the finals of American Grit, Noah Galloway couldn’t be more proud of his team’s success. Throughout the Fox reality show competition his crew has dominated with Evolution victories. “What has really helped is that they are really tough,” Galloway said, ahead of the American Grit season finale which will air Thursday, June 9, at 8/7CT. The coach in green attributes the string of wins to a supportive leadership style adopted from the battlefield and a group of driven teammates. “I have an Olympic athlete. I have a lumberjack and a woman who practically lived on a fishing boat for 20 years,” […]

American Grit Season 1 Episode 8: Barricade the Bunker

Team Tee was often in the back of the line on American Grit. A string of bad luck depleted the team. That changed this week when Tony, the sole member, won a pivotal Evolution heading into the final leg of the reality competition. It was nice to see the underdog still in the game. One from each of the teams was given the objective of barricading their respective bunkers to the best of their ability. Chains, ropes, wood and chicken wire were used over the course of the 30 minutes allotted. From there, another participant had to break through another’s […]

Jason Jordan on American Alpha’s path to WWE NXT tag team gold

Genuine emotion could be felt when Jason Jordan and his partner Chad Gable won the NXT tag team championship at NXT TakeOver: Dallas. After fighting and clawing up the rankings of WWE’s developmental brand, the duo — known as American Alpha — finally struck gold WrestleMania week. Jordan can recall himself and Gable, along with their opponents, The Revival (Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder), going into the match with high expectations for themselves. “We feel like we are rejuvenating the tag team division,” he said, just days away from American Alpha’s title rematch against The Revival at NXT TakeOver: The End  […]

American Grit Season 1 Episode 7: Dawn Patrol

On Last Week’s American Grit, Ivette was eliminated, leaving Tony as the sole survivor of Team Tee. The former football player managed to pull through once again and live to fight another day. The show started with an ominous knock at the door and the delivery of four compasses for each team. This left the competitors wondering what was to come. They got their answer in the form of a horn and John Cena in full drill instructor mode  —at 3:30 in the morning. The crew had five minutes to get mentally and physically prepared for the “Dawn Patrol” evolution. They were […]

WWE SmackDown goes live and moves to Tuesday nights!

In an exciting development for WWE fans, SmackDown is going live — and moving to 8pm Tuesday nights — on USA Network starting July 19. And if that weren’t enough, the sports entertainment juggernaut announced the blue brand will feature a distinct roster, storylines and dedicated writing team. This isn’t the first time when WWE made Raw and SmackDown their own separate entities. A similar decision came in 2002 regarding a draft and brand extension. However, the fact that the two shows are going to be on USA Network — and live — helps raise the profile of SmackDown immensely. It’s also […]

American Grit Season 1 Episode 5: Double Time

Team Noah’s winning streak came to an end last night on American Grit. Survival was the key to the Evolution this week, which took place on a World War II training ground. Once the sound of the horn went off, the competitors were tasked with building a shelter, purifying water and making a fire. The curveball was to decide whether they wanted to take the shorter or longer route to materials to complete each of the objectives. The lesser distance means a harder way to accomplish the same result. Team Nick scored its first victory by going against the grain and […]

American Grit Season 1 Episode 4: Charlie Foxtrot

Team Noah’s success continued with yet another victory on American Grit. They are clearly dominating. The green crew won the Charlie Foxtrot evolution, which called for observation and communication. The participants were tasked with memorizing various symbols and then going through obstacles to get back to the starting point. From there, they had to select those same symbols among decoys. Noah’s group was the first to complete their puzzle board. Team Tee was so close, but again, no cigar for them. This means more frustration from their opponents as they wonder what exactly they have to do to stop them. The […]

Colt Cabana on his Ring of Honor return and going for gold at Global Wars

It’s been about five years since Colt Cabana worked for Ring of Honor. The relationship between the company and one of its most beloved stars has been strained, so fans were shocked when Cabana reemerged at ROH’s Supercard of Honor X events in Dallas. “They’ve been reaching out to me ever since they did a changing of the guard,” Cabana explained. “I turned them down a bunch of times because I wasn’t happy with the way it all went down in the past. I had been a part of the promotion for so long, but with the new management, that idea […]
