Comic-Con ’08: No Rest For Batman

Posted by SH Having the fastest movie ever to top $300 million isn’t enough for the Caped Crusader. He’ll be hitting both the small screen and the bookshelf this fall with incarnations far different than the blacker-than-black version currently in theaters. “Batman: The Brave and the Bold” comes to Cartoon Network on Nov. 14, and it will wear its love of nostalgia proudly on its brightly colored sleeve. Taking its name from a comic book that pairs Batman with a different superhero each issue, and almost always took him out of Gotham City, the series will bring to life many […]

Cloning Success?

Posted By RabbitEars As you may have heard, the Clone Wars have started up again. George Lucas, who “felt there were a lot more Star Wars stories left to tell” (and money left to make), is further exploring this period of the famed sci-fi saga’s history in a new animated series set to debut this fall on Cartoon Network. The network had already aired an impressive series of traditionally animated shorts dealing with the Clone Wars a few years back, in anticipation of Episode III, but this new series — which debuts following a theatrical release August 15 — enters […]

Deep In The Heart Of Texas — A "Family Guy" Recap

Posted by Sarah We open with the Griffins watching Julia Louis-Dreyfus in her new show, Now, It’s Just Getting Sad. Brian doesn’t want to pee outside because it’s raining, so he asks to go inside on the paper. Good thing, because as he’s spreading it around the living room floor, he notices the ad that will get the plot rolling: The church is hiring a new organist. Lois auditions, as do the pirate (playing an amazing rendition of “Great Balls of Fire” with all 4 pegs) and the creepy old man (singing the Waitresses classic, “I Know What Boys Like”). […]

“The Simpsons” Season 19 Premiere Recap

Posted by Mike (who is aroused … and confused) If you’re like me, you loved the Season 19 premiere of The Simpsons. Of course, if you’re like me, that means you’re also a rabid fan of the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears and Joe Jackson (not the one who played for the Chicago White Sox) — all of whom were featured in the episode. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves. The Simpsons is one of the only shows on television that offers its viewers something new each week during its opening credits, and this week’s sequence was reworked to include […]

FOX TV Dads Pick NFL Games

FOX got the dads from its “Wildest Shows on Earth” Sunday animated lineup to pick this weekend’s NFL games. Homer Simpson of, uh, The Simpsons, Hank Hill of King of the Hill, Peter Griffin of Family Guy and Stan Smith of American Dad all weigh in on this weekend’s slate. We’ll check back on Tuesday to see how they did. Just remember guys: When you participate in sports, it’s not whether you win or lose — it’s how drunk you get. I’ve always wondered who’s actually writing these interviews with cartoon characters. Do they get a writer from the show, […]

“The Simpsons” Season 19 Premiere Is Almost Here

The Simpsons are going to Chicago! Well, at least Homer is — by private jet —in Sunday night’s Season 19 premiere, titled “He Loves To Fly and He D’ohs.” Chicago may be called the Second City, but it’s got to be at least the dozenth one the Simpsons have visited during their long run on FOX. But, after the long wait, at least Matt Groening and company get it right, by paying tribute to Chitown’s sports teams and landmarks as Homer and his unlikely dinner date Mr. Burns tour the Windy City. (You know, what Chicago really needs is a […]

"Family Guy" + "Star Wars" = George Lucas Done Good (Finally)

Posted by Sarah George Lucas did something right when he gave Family Guy permission to do an hourlong Star Wars sendup for its season premiere. The show’s been delighting sci-fi fans for years with its smatterings of Star Wars and Star Trek references, and I’ve been wishin’ and hopin’ and prayin’ that it would follow Robot Chicken‘s lead. Proving once again that the universe bends to my will, it did. And it’s glorious. Guest voices include Mick Hucknall, Rush Limbaugh and Chevy Chase. Keep an eye out for the hottest TIE fighter in the sector and a Red Squadron check-in […]
