“Game of Thrones” leads 2014 Emmy nominations

This morning, the 2014 Emmy nominations for the 66th Primetime Emmy Awards were announced. The ceremony will air live Aug. 25 at 8pm ET on NBC, hosted by Seth Meyers. HBO’s Game of Thrones earned the most nominations of any series, with 19 (HBO as a whole dominated all nominations, with 99 coming to the network). Two FX miniseries were close behind: Fargo has 18 nominations, and American Horror Story: Coven, 17. Terry Crews to host 30th Annual Television Critics Association (TCA) Awards

In a few weeks, on July 19, the Television Critics Association (TCA) will give out its annual awards to the people and shows that exemplified the best of television in this past year. The untelevised, invite-only event, hosted by Terry Crews (Brooklyn Nine-Nine, pictured) features categories including news and information; youth; drama; reality; and comedy as the top TV critics in North America — who selected the nominees — honor TV’s 2013-14 season. Taped last Saturday, June 7, Spike Guys Choice 2014 will air on the network June 11 at 9pm ET/PT. This is the eighth annual installment of the ceremony that celebrates all things “guy.” Among the notable honorees at Guys Choice 2014 are Sandra Bullock, who is awarded the “Decade of Hotness” honor — “one of the night’s highest honors,” according to a Spike TV release. Ludacris will host the Billboard Music Awards 2014, which airs live from Las Vegas May 18 at 8pm ET on ABC. A live-stream of the two-hour pre-show will be available on Yahoo, billboardmusicawards.com and billboard.com starting at 6pm ET. Yesterday, the nominations were announced for the 41st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards, which will be presented June 22, honoring individuals and programs broadcast from 2am-6pm during the 2013 calendar year. CBS leads the way with 61 nominations, followed by syndicated programming with 50, and PBS with 44. CBS’ The Young and the Restless received 26 nominations, more than any other show.
