President Obama’s speech Wednesday night pre-empted the next-to-last episode of Scrubs, and creator/producer Bill Lawrence has announced that the episode — “My Chief Concern” — will now air on Tuesday, the day before the hourlong finale. Lawrence also sounds off about the rumors of a possible ninth season, making it sound a lot more likely than what has been reported in the past. He insists, however, that the ninth season would be more like a spinoff, a la Frasier, than it would be the continuing adventures of J.D., Turk and Elliot. Many of the cast members have signed on to […]
Adult Swim today announced it has acquired the legendary hit BBC comedy, The Office, from BBC Worldwide. Both seasons of the two-time Golden Globe Award-winning series will begin airing on Adult Swim this summer. Adult Swim will also air The Office Christmas special. Created, written and directed by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, The Office is about the day-to-day lives of office employees in the Slough, Berkshire branch of the fictitious Wernham Hogg Paper Company. The main character in the series, David Brent, as played by Gervais, is now firmly established as one of the great creations of comedy — […]
By Mike Frey Synopsis: Ted has just met a girl named Holli and he wants to call her just moments after she leaves MacLaren’s. He thinks it would be cute, but Barney and Marshall — and apparently Jesus — want him to wait the appropriate three days before calling. It’s the Three Days Rule, which, according to Barney, Christ created right before inventing the high five. Ted tries to establish his own “I Like Her, I Call Her” rule, but let’s just say that Ted is no Jesus. Barney and Marshall make him promise that he won’t call Holli until […]
Earl and Randy don’t go to church very often — they’re usually hungover on Christmas and Easter — but they’re happy to go to the church festival. Joy is happy, too. She drank 25 Dixie cups of wine. And Catalina has had great luck at the carnival games. She even won an AM/FM radio headset! But no such luck for Joy. As she’s taking the drunk walk home from the festival, she steals a riding lawnmower, and runs Catalina down with it. Joy drives the lawnmower into a storage shed with Catalina pinned against it. Catalina threatens to go to the […]
At Joe’s barbecue party, Lois and Bonnie get a little frisky by the pool, Peter comments on the meat while Joe grills it, and Stewie’s off playing with Barbies. When Susie takes one of them, Stewie’s attempt to teach her a lesson just gets him a beat-down. Peter’s humiliated that his son got beaten up by a girl, but when his attempt to man-ify Stewie with insults and Spike TV fail, he takes him to the gym to bulk up. Meanwhile, Meg’s popularity idol Connie has decided that she’s done with popular boys and sets out to date and makeover […]
Michael Scott is quickly finding out that owning your own paper company can be tough. You have to make your own early morning deliveries. You have to drive Korean people to church. And, it turns out, you actually have to know something about business. While the Michael Scott Paper Company’s low prices have threatened Dunder Mifflin’s business, they’ve nearly destroyed the Michael Scott Paper Company. The MSPC is on pace to be out of business within a month if things don’t change. Fortunately, David Wallace and Charles Miner are operating under the assumption that Michael has figured out a way […]
By Stacey Harrison Well, looky here. There’s Elizabeth Banks. Nice to see that despite having roles in every other movie that came out last year, she found time to come back as Kim, J.D.’s baby mama. They get along just fine, and J.D. has even learned how to turn their brief encounters to his advantage. He makes sure Kim has a reason to touch him, e.g. a bit of lint in his hair, or maybe a ruffled collar that needs straightening, because Elliot gets insanely jealous and demands sex almost instantly. Sometimes she even takes her underwear off while still […]
As we join the action this week, things have been very productive at the Michael Scott Paper Company — that is, if practicing throwing cheese puffs into each other’s mouths from various angles and distances can be considered productive. As Pam points out, there’s only so much cold-calling you can do, and the company’s only other source of sales leads is Dwight, who has been secretly sharing information with Michael in the alley behind the Scranton Business Park. As luck would have it, Dwight is disgruntled because Charles has compromised his “attack readiness” by forcing him to wear long sleeves […]
While the guys are hanging out at the Drunken Clam, Quagmire calls and tells them to get over to his house right away. Turns out, he’s got a cat named James. And he’s crazy about him. Even after James uses Joe’s leg as a scratching post. Quagmire’s cat fancying gets out of hand, and when he goes to Vermont to buy James a birthday present, the guys decide to sneak into his house and shave the cat. But because they gave the straight razor to Peter, the cat ends up dead and Peter and Brian end up on an inebriated […]
