“The Office”: Golden Ticket Recap

Synopsis: Michael Scott claims that he has just had the best idea he — or anyone else — has ever had. It’s an interesting way of putting things, since someone else did, in fact, have the idea already. He’s putting five golden tickets into five random boxes of paper, which, when discovered, will entitle five lucky Dunder Mifflin clients to a day of whimsy, fantasy and excitement. In other words, 10 percent off their entire paper order. Or at least that’s the way it’s supposed to work. It turns out that Michael wasn’t quite random enough with his distribution, and […]

“How I Met Your Mother”: Sorry, Bro Recap

By Mike Synopsis: Robin has been on an insane sleep schedule ever since she took a job hosting a 4am morning show. As such, she meets up with the gang at McLaren’s on her way to work to catch up on the previous day’s events. The main topic of conversation is Ted’s ex-girlfriend Karen (Laura Prepon). To paraphrase Marshall and Lily, Karen is a pretentious douche who dated Ted in college and repeatedly broke his heart by sleeping with other guys — in his dorm room. Each time, the story ended with the other guy saying, “Sorry, bro.” Well, Karen […]

“The Office”: Blood Drive Recap

Synopsis: Aaaaayyyyy! (Sorry, we love a good Fonzie reference.) It’s Valentine’s Day at Dunder Mifflin Scranton, despite the fact that it’s early March everywhere else. That means it’s going to be a rough day for Michael Scott, who still misses Holly and resents everyone else’s romantic bliss — not to mention the general sexiness Jim and Pam are always throwing in his face. He has decided to organize a lonely hearts club party, to which only the single people in the office are invited. As a consolation, he invites Jim to “suck it.” The party isn’t the only major event […]

“How I Met Your Mother”: The Stinsons Recap

By Mike Synopsis: Barney Stinson been acting normal — which, for Barney, is totally weird. His actions suggest that he’s in a committed relationship, and when the gang tracks him from McLaren’s to his mother’s house, they find out he is. Sort of. Seven years go, Barney’s mom Loretta (played by four-time Emmy nominee Frances Conroy, Six Feet Under) got really sick and looked like she wouldn’t pull through, so Barney decided to fulfill her wish that he wouldn’t end up alone by hiring an actress to play his fiancé, Betty. Problem is, he hired an actress who liked to […]
