Parks And Recreation Series Finale

I’ve been dreading tonight for months. I have had a sad feeling in my stomach thinking about the finale of Parks and Recreation. I wrote about the series finale for the March issue of Channel Guide Magazine, and posted something on the website last week, but even now, having just finished watching the one-hour finale, I have an uneasy feeling in my stomach that lies somewhere between heartburn and malaise. Time will tell what history thinks of the final episode of Parks and Recreation. But I guess I don’t care what others think. I had a deep personal love for the show […]

Better Call Saul episode 4 recap: “Hero”

We’re four episodes into AMC’s Better Call Saul, and Slippin’ Jimmy, Jimmy McGill and Saul Goodman are, by turns, thrashing, banana-peeling and tip-toeing their way to becoming the same guy, on the screen and in viewers’ minds. And by the end of tonight’s outing, “Hero,” I found myself wondering for the first time if Jimmy ever really wanted be a lawyer in the first place, or if he’s just trying mightily to fill his big brother’s shoes and avenge — carry on? live up to? — the family name, using the best gift the universe bestowed on him: The ability to spin […]

Amy Poehler Talks “Parks and Recreation” Series Finale on Feb. 24

Whenever I think about Parks and Recreation ending its 7 season run on Feb. 24, I get misty eyed, and the opening bars of Semisonic’s “Closing Time” starts buzzing through my mind. The mocumentary comedy never enjoyed huge ratings, but it was well received by critics and enjoyed a fiercely loyal audience. And I will miss it immensely. Amy Poehler portrayed ever-chipper deputy director of the Pawnee Parks Department, Leslie Knope. She left Saturday Night Live — where she was a cast member from 2001-2008 — to lead the ensemble comedy as it’s central character. When asked if she had a favorite […]

“Two and a Half Men” ends its run tonight

It was never one of my favorites, but you have to hand it to Two and a Half Men — like other Chuck Lorre productions (looking at you, The Big Bang Theory), the series has maintained remarkable staying power despite airdate changes, cast changes, infighting and generally lukewarm critical response. However, all things must end, and so, too will Two and a Half Men, when it ends its 12-season run with a one-hour series finale tonight at 9pm ET/PT on CBS. Details on the Two and a Half Men series finale have been guarded, but ahead of the episode airing, here are some historical tidbits about […]

Amazon greenlights full seasons of “The Man in the High Castle,” other original series

After becoming Amazon’s most-watched pilot ever back in January, the original series The Man in the High Castle has been extended to a full season, Amazon announced today. The drama is based on Philip K. Dick’s Hugo Award-winning 1962 alternate-history novel set in a world where the Axis powers of Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan won World War II and have split much of the world, including the United States, between them. Amazon’s development process allows customers to provide feedback on pilots they want to see turned into series. So far, Amazon has greenlit 13 series, including Transparent, which comes back for Season […]

Jane the Virgin Chapter 14 Recap: Sin Rostro Has a New Partner

Chapter Fourteen of Jane the Virgin starts off with a touching moment, seeing Rafael and Jane start their baby registry together. However the adorable moment is gone once Michael shows up to let Rafael in on the bad news. Michael tells both Rafael and Jane that Rose is Sin Rostro. Michael says they still need to find Emilio since he’s not completely disassociated with Rose. I’m not sure if they have any baby onesies that say “My grandparents are master criminals” to add onto that registry. Luisa is still trying to escape from the mental hospital since her last attempt […]

Shameless Season 5, Episode 6: “Crazy Love” recap

So last week was a little insane, heartbreaking and chaotic. Here’s what happens this week on Shameless Season 5, Episode 6: “Crazy Love” Frank and Sammi: Clearly in pain from abusing his new liver, Frank is hunting down his monthly check at the Gallagher house. Trying to get in, he comes across pitbull Sammi, who has taken upon herself to be in charge around the house now. She tells him it’s the gutter he crawled out of or the couch, also no money, no food. There is now a house curfew of doors being locked at 10pm, which promptly throws […]
