General Hospital & Baby Daddy Double-Crossover Event, Part 1

A crossover episode is a win-win for TV fans. Not only do you get to see your favorite characters interacting with megawatt stars, but also you get to see your favorite celeb flexing his or her acting chops in another role. Baby Daddy and General Hospital have two upcoming crossover episodes (is that a double-crossover?).  I spoke to Baby Daddy’s Derek Theler & General Hospital’s Kelly Monaco about the fun of visiting another show and how they become like foreign exchange students in their visits each other’s “strange lands.” The first crossover event airs Feb. 4, when Kelly Monaco (as […]

Jane the Virgin Chapter 12 Recap: Adios Papa Solano

On Chapter Twelve of Jane the Virgin, Rafael’s sister, Luisa, asks for Jane to accompany Rafael for a therapy meeting. Fed up with listening to Luisa’s same “poor me” routine, Rafael tells Luisa what he’s been dealing with at the hotel. He tells her about the ongoing investigation of Sin Rostro and how their father might now be linked to it. Luisa paid especially close attention to the fact that Rafael mentioned that a bell boy was killed with a corkscrew right outside their father’s room. Before leaving, Luisa catches Jane in the bathroom and asks for her to give Rose […]

TBS Seinfeld marathon focuses on Newman during “Thank a Mailman Day”

Wednesday, Feb. 4, is Thank a Mailman Day. Postal customers in the Midwest and East who have gotten their mail in the midst of a couple of blizzards might very well want to thank their mailman (or woman) on this day, but TBS is celebrating it in another way. On Feb. 4, the network will air a marathon of Seinfeld episodes focusing to some degree on one of television’s most memorable mail carriers: Jerry Seinfeld’s sworn enemy — the Lex Luthor to his Superman — Newman (Wayne Knight). TBS will allow you to say, “Hello, Newman,” to the character during four Seinfeld episodes that show […]

Shameless Recap Season 5, Episode 4: “A Night to Remem- Wait, What?”

Last week on Shameless we saw Frank’s mouth and Shelia’s house exploding, ending with Shelia driving off in the RV? This week’s Shameless Season 5, Episode 4: “A Night to Remem- Wait, What?” is pretty heavy on Frank reverting back to his own ways. It starts at the end of a wild night out and the episode is pretty heavy on him trying to recall what all went down… Very The Hangoveresque episode Frank: The opening scene is him lying face down covered in pigeon excrement and a cop waking him up. Geez, what did you get into the night before […]

Fresh Off the Boat on ABC: Restaurateur writer Eddie Huang brings his preteen life to TV

All Fresh Off the Boat’s sixth-grade hero Eddie Huang (Hudson Yang) wants is to be as smooth as the hip-hop artists and pro athletes he worships. Well, and also some Lunchables. And maybe a pair of Air Jordans. Such is the plight of an 11-year-old Taiwanese-Chinese-American whose family has moved from Washington, D.C.’s, Chinatown to the lily-white suburbs of Orlando so his immigrant dad, Louis (Randall Park, The Interview‘s own Kim Jong-un), can take a bite out of the all-American steakhouse business. With his little brothers acclimating effortlessly, and his equally flummoxed mother Jessica (Constance Wu) newly recruited as the token […]

Key & Peele deliver Pro Edition of East/West Bowl

Ahead of their Super Bowl special airing Jan. 30 at 10pm ET/PT on Comedy Central, Key and Peele have released a Pro Edition of their popular East/West Bowl sketch, which traditionally has fun at the expense of the unusual names among some college football players. This time, Key and Peele portray a variety of fictional pro players with hilarious names, mannerisms and ways of speaking. Here, though, there are even a couple of real-life NFLers thrown into the mix, whose names were apparently too good to leave out, including Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, D’Brickashaw Ferguson and Aaron Rodgers (?). (Rodgers introduces […]

Bob Fisher on Sirens Season 2

In September, I, along with a few other writers, had the chance to visit the Chicago set of USA Network’s hit comedy series Sirens, which follows the professional and personal lives of three EMTs in the Windy City. (The set is not far from where Chicago Fire and Chicago P.D. are shot, and during chats with cast members of Sirens, they said sometimes the various casts get together for softball games and other fun.) Before watching the filming of a scene, we toured the set, which included a newly built hospital set for the second season (visits to the hospital […]
