A Fall TV Season on Strike

He’s The Pope, But YOUNG! HBO’s The Young Pope was the year’s first surprise hit, largely due to the internet’s funny reactions to the show’s forthright title. “At the beginning of the week, [I was] completely unaware of what a meme was,” star Jude Law said in January. “I’ve become very aware. And I love them.” HBO ordered a new season, aptly titled The New Pope. Everybody’s Gonna Die. Come Watch TV. Adult Swim’s brilliantly absurd Rick and Morty and its cult following inspired McDonald’s to offer its Szechuan sauce — one of the show’s running gags — in limited […]
We watched some good, some bad, some strange and some Stranger Things in 2016. The best and worst on TV in 2016: […]
Why nine? Well, everyone does Top 10 lists, so we agonized a little more and whittled down this year’s impressive new lineup to nine. It wasn’t easy, people! Let us know what you like and dislike this season by emailing letters@ntvbmedia.com. Here are Channel Guide Magazine‘s Top 9 New Shows Fall 2016: This Is Us (NBC) Bring your Kleenex, as this one had all the lady critics in the office sniffling. We loved every character in this perfectly scripted drama that follows four people navigating life after they turn 36. The Good Place (NBC) What the fork? In this comedy, […]
I have watched every episode of Naked and Afraid since it premiered, so when the series sent me a bow drill, my surroundings got all wavy and I imagined myself on the Discovery survival series. I quickly came to the conclusion that I would die. Or maybe not. Here’s why … My Blur Would Be Too Big. At first glance, this may not seem potentially fatal, but believe me, my bosoms might prove deadly. First of all, one of the camera people might have a heart attack when I unleash my bounty. Or someone may get so distracted by seeing me […]
In Thursday night’s episode of American Idol, the aging reality series showed why it’s a shell of what it once was. The series announced the final 10 contestants in its final season: MacKenzie Bourg, Trent Harmon, Gianna Isabella, Lee Jean, Tristan McIntosh, Dalton Rapattoni, La’Porsha Renae, Olivia Rox, Sonika Vaid and Avalon Young. Four of the contestants were unanimously chosen by the judges last night — Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr. — and the remaining six were chosen by America’s votes. But the best moment of the night was when Season 1 winner Kelly Clarkson brought America […]
17 TV THINGS WORTH CELEBRATING IN 2015 17. The Left Shark Katy Perry’s Super Bowl XLIX halftime performance amped up the camp with dancing sharks, but the choreographically challenged Left Shark stole the show. It was probably his idea to pass on second and goal from the 1-yard line. 16. Empress of the Blues Queen Latifah brilliantly embodied blues music legend Bessie Smith in HBO’s Emmy-winning biopic Bessie, a visually and audibly engrossing examination of Depression-era social issues that linger today. 15. Here for the Fear AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead helped sate TWD fans’ late-summer cravings for zombie-head-busting fun […]

Things are not looking good for E!’s Fashion Police, which has been on the air since 2010. In another major scandal to rock the program in a few weeks, co-host Kathy Griffin has exited the program after only 7 episodes. The comedian was brought in to follow in the footsteps of her good friend and mentor Joan Rivers, whose September, 2014 devastated the show. Griffin revealed her departure in a Twitter statement saying in part…. When I chose to step into the shoes of my beloved friend Joan Rivers at Fashion Police, I was thrilled to continue her legacy as a […]
Uh oh, Dance Moms nation. The counter is back. I suppose it was only a matter of time. And just for the record, I’d consider using Lifetime-sanctioned photos for these things if, you know, they actually offered some from each — or any — episode. Which they don’t. And what’s a story without pictures? So I make my own. So let’s all just ignore the counter. We do not see you, counter! Lalalala! As promised, we’re back in Pittsburgh. Holly says she sees L.A. as a success, even if Abby did try to sabotage Nia at every turn — Aubrey […]
