Discovery Channel special pays tribute to Tim Samaras, Carl Young and Paul Samaras

Tim Samaras and Carl Young, who appeared in the former Discovery Channel series Storm Chasers, along with Tim’s son Paul Samaras, were killed last Friday during the devastating tornado outbreak near El Reno, Oklahoma. To honor the lives of the three men, Discovery will be airing an enhanced presentation of last Sunday’s special, Mile Wide Tornado: Oklahoma Disaster that will include highlights and special scenes of all of them from Storm Chasers. Discovery Channel will air a one-hour special on June 2 called Mile Wide Tornado: Oklahoma Disaster, which examines the May 20 Oklahoma tornado tragedy near Oklahoma City and the city of Moore. The program looks at the devastating event through the eyes of the people who survived the EF5 tornado that traveled over 17 miles and lasted about 45 minutes. The Weather Channel has announced that it will be debuting a one-hour special called The Oklahoma Tornado Tragedy: A Weather Channel Special Presentation Thursday, May 23, at 9pm ET. The program looks at the massive, EF5 tornado that devastated the town of Moore, Oklahoma, on May 20, killing at least 24, injuring hundreds, and potentially leaving upward of $2 billion worth of damage in its wake. The former NBC genealogy documentary series Who Do You Think You Are? is being resurrected by TLC, which has ordered eight new hourlong episodes to begin airing July 23, the network announced.
