“We’ll Always Have the Hamptons”: Royal Pains Begins Its Farewell Season Tonight

Although newer USA Network series like Mr. Robot have grabbed more of the spotlight over the years, Royal Pains has steadily been a tried-and-true audience favorite for the channel. The drama series begins its eighth and final season this month. “It’s with great sadness, but even greater thankfulness, that we prepare for our final summer sunsets as Royal Pains comes to an end,” said co-creator and executive producer Andrew Lenchewski and executive producer Michael Rauch in a release. USA says that the final season, along with featuring the show’s 100th episode midway through, will explore pivotal life decisions for everyone […]

Channing Dungey, Paul Lee’s successor as president of ABC Entertainment, unveiled the network’s 2016-2017 programming slate and lineup today at Lincoln Center’s David Geffen Hall, in New York City. Quantico’s Priyanka Chopra and Jake McLaughlin led an opening montage that featured the pair grilling the network’s current stars about where “it” begins. It being great entertainment. Which, of course, is ABC. Chopra then appeared in a live song-and-dance number, followed by the requisite network cheerleading from Geri Wang, President of ABC ad sales, and Ben Sherwood, president of ABC/Disney Television Group. Then Dungey took over, telling the assembly that she has loved […]

This is the last episode before the big finale, Blindspotters! And oh, baby… it was a good one. It also had babies! “If Love a Rebel, Death Will Render” kicks off with Jane (Jaimie Alexander) yelling at Oscar (Francois Arnaud) about Mayfair (Marianne Jean-Baptiste) going to jail. He says she deserves it. Jane doesn’t seem to agree, but Sofia (Sarita Choudhury) steps out of the darkness to convince her. She does that by mentioning Daylight. • BLINDSPOT recaps: Episode 1 | Episode 2 | Episode 3 | Episode 4 | Episode 5 | Episode 6 | Episode 7 | Episode […]

Jane the Virgin Chapter 44 recap: Happily Never After?

It’s the Season 2 finale of Jane the Virgin and that means it’s finally time for Jane’s wedding! Let the adventure begin! Another huge milestone in this episode: Mateo finally takes his first few steps. How convenient that he learned how to walk just in time for his mom’s wedding. Michael’s back on the force. I guess his discovery of Rafael’s mom being tied up had something to do with that. In the end, I’m glad that he’s back to his job and doing what he loves. Remember when Xo slept with Rogelio’s No. 1 enemy last week? Yeah, well Esteban wanted […]

The Dresser — Sir Anthony Hopkins and Sir Ian McKellen shine in Starz original film

The play’s the thing in The Dresser. King Lear, to be exact. And whether — apologies, Hamlet — it is to be or not to be. And a pair of Sirs make Starz’ upcoming film adaptation of the Ronald Harwood play a must-see, whether you’re a Shakespeare lover or not. The Dresser follows Sir (Sir Anthony Hopkins), an embittered, once-famous actor whose star has faded to twilight in a local Shakespeare troupe. As Sir’s anger and despair get the better of him — and World War II rages across England — Sir’s faithful dresser Norman (Sir Ian McKellen) tries to ensure that Lear […]

Empire Season 2 Episode 17 Recap: Lyon Down

With the scare Lucious’ mother, Leah Walker, gave us last week on Empire, it’s good to see Lucious alive and preparing for the ASAs tomorrow. I’m not sure Lucious gave Cookie all the details about what happened that night with the cakes, but she thinks Lucious needs to work things out with his mother. He might need to hurry because as Leah was watching TV, she saw Lucious’ music video. You know, the one about his childhood living with a bipolar mother who apparently shot herself. I bet Leah’s not happy about that! I’m not sure whatever D-Major and Jamal […]

Recap: Blindspot Season 1, Episode 21 — When a Stranger Hacks

The first season of Blindspot is about to wrap up, so things are really starting to hit the fan. Oh sure, we’ve seen bad guys (and bad FBI guys) die off, but really this show is starting to become less about solving the mysteries buried on Jane’s (Jaimie Alexander) body and more about solving what’s going on with our FBI team. This week’s episode, “Of Whose Uneasy Route” — that’s “To Your New Safe House, anagram fans — again throws Jane’s tattoos to the side for a good, old-fashioned hacker story. Now, I’d have to say watching an episode about […]
