In The Royals, Episode 7, the paps get pesty, Ophelia gets breasty, King Simon gets testy and we get visited by the best…y. Ophelia and Liam’s sexy-time doesn’t last long, Ophelia’s topless flaunt in Morocco was caught by the lens of a pesky […]

HAPPYish Episode 1 Recap

HAPPYish premiered tonight on Showtime. I’m not going to lie: it exhausted me to watch it, but I’m going to keep watching, nonetheless. It’s a bit eye-rolling to watch an angsty, artsy interpretation of a wealthy, white male having an existential crisis, but I’ll try my best to keep my recap positive because, even though the pilot episode wore me down, something about it interested me. I think it was the murderous elf. More on that later, though. As the show opens, we see Mt. Rushmore, and hear a voiceover from Thom Payne, the show’s main character, which is pretty […]

Jack Randall exposed …Recap: Outlander Episode 12 “Lallybroch”

Outlander “Lallybroch” Episode 12 (original airdate April 25, 2015) Let’s start by saying there were plenty of visually stunning scenes in Episode 12 of Outlander — some beautiful (the cinematography of Scotland in this episode is breathtaking), some horrifying (the floggings) and some just downright nasty (Randall schlopping out his ballocks, OMG). The episode opens with lavish panoramics of the Scottish hills and seaside —simply beautiful. As the aerial views zoom closer to land we see Claire and Jamie on horse making their way to what we presume to be Lallybroch, Jamie’s ancestral home. Claire and Jamie playfully chat. Probably […]

American Crime Episode 8 recap

In American Crime Episode 8, a rally for Carter (Elvis Nolasco) turned chaotic, and Barb (Felicity Huffman) perhaps began the steps toward some sort of self-awareness. As the episode opened, Carter was being interviewed by a TV reporter about the upcoming rally/march that his sister Aliyah (Regina King) was organizing for him, to be held the next day. The reporter tried to lead Carter with some ratings-driven, controversial questions, implying that Aliyah is bringing in “outside agitators” to start violence. Carter gets up and leaves the interview, telling the reporter, “This isn’t working for me.” That sentiment from the reporter […]

“Grey’s Anatomy” fans demand the head of Shonda Rhimes

So last night’s Grey’s Anatomy, “How to Save a Life,” sent fans of Dr. Derek “McDreamy” Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey) throwing themselves over a cliff en masse. I bore witness to my wife’s own personal “he’s-going-to-die-no-he-isn’t-yes-he-is-GET-THE-CT-SCAN!-OMG-HE’S-DEAD!” emotional wringer. The Internet, being the Internet, became a gathering place for all stages of grief at once. But, really, knowing that Dempsey wanted out, it shouldn’t have come as that much of a surprise … could it? Our own Andrea Verschage received this text message from her sister at 5:44am: Here are some of the best Twitter reactions: Man, you guys really liked the […]

When J.K. Rowling brought her beloved Harry Potter book series to a close in 2007, fans wondered where her unique literary mind might wander next. Five high-tech lessons to be learned from CSI Cyber

Times have changed. And so has crime. “The bank robbery of yesterday was going into a bank, breaking in, taking a lot of money,” says Anthony E. Zuiker, one of the creators, writers and executive producers of the various incarnations of CBS’s CSI crime shows. According to Zuiker, the bank robbery of tomorrow will be a cyber crime – one that involves “taking three cents out of your account” – and millions of others. The growing danger of cyber crime is the inspiration behind CSI: Cyber. The rookie drama series casts Patricia Arquette as Special Agent Avery Ryan, the head […]
