Greg Nicotero talks The Walking Dead Season 6, Negan, The Saviors, THAT Glenn scene and more

The Walking Dead Season 6 returns Sunday, February 14 at 9/8CT on AMC You picked a fine time to show up, Lucille! OK, so we’ve yet to see The Walking Dead comic’s infamous barbed-wire baseball bat and its equally insidious owner, Negan (welcome, Jeffrey Dean Morgan!). But we know the pair is out there, courtesy of a sneak peek of Daryl, Sasha and Abraham encountering a contingent of Negan’s acolytes — a.k.a. the Saviors — which aired just after the midseason finale. Atop it, Deanna’s dead, the wall’s kaput and Morgan just had to let that Wolf get away with poor Dr. […]

M. Night Shyamalan brings Tales From the Crypt to TNT

Tales from the Crypt will rise again, this time as an M. Night Shyamalan-helmed programming block on TNT. Kevin Reilly, President of TBS and TNT and Chief Creative Officer of Turner Entertainment, made the announcement at today’s Television Critics Association winter press tour. The format of the two-hour block is, for now, a bit of a puzzlement. TNT’s press release says it will be “led by Tales from the Crypt, based on the original EC Comics and new stories, all executive-produced by Shyamalan and his partner at Binding Edge Pictures, Ashwin Rajan.” But Reilly described a more fluid set-up: “Not a show — an […]

Why I Should Binge “Dexter”

WHAT IS Dexter ABOUT? Who is in it? Why is it binge-worthy? Must-sees That line was so great A dark, intense and often-twisted mystery/crime drama series inspired by Darkly Dreaming Dexter, the first in a series of novels by author Jeff Lindsay. The story revolves around a character named Dexter Morgan, a forensics expert and blood-splatter specialist who works for the Miami police department. Dexter is a twisted, psychologically damaged individual – and, as it turns out, a vigilante serial killer who metes out justice by tracking down and killing murderers or other heinous individuals who have managed to slip […]

Ash vs Evil Dead Episode 1 recap: “El Jefe”

Happy Halloween, and welcome to our first Ash vs Evil Dead recap. Ash is back, baby! Director Sam Raimi kicked off the series Ash vs Evil Dead in fine form, with his legendary manic camerawork, some references to the Evil Dead films, and plenty of the humor (particularly from Bruce Campbell’s performance) and gore that we’ve come to know and love from the cult classic films. When I talked with Campbell earlier this summer on the set of Ash vs Evil Dead, he told me that the decision to make the series a half-hour one was “in order to keep […]

“A big jolly splatterfest” — Talking “Ash vs Evil Dead” with Bruce Campbell and Lucy Lawless

It was just past the first day of winter in New Zealand when I arrived at a location called Riverhead, just outside of Auckland, to begin watching the filming of the new Starz series Ash vs Evil Dead, which airs Saturdays beginning Oct. 31. Coming from the northern U.S., I didn’t find the weather to be quite what I was used to as “winter.” It was very pleasant: sunny, temps in the high 50s, low 60s Fahrenheit. The nice climate added to the loveliness of the filming location, a scenic pine forest. As a fan of the original Evil Dead […]

The Walking Dead — Who’s Friend, Who’s Foe In (And Out Of) Alexandria In Season 6?

The wait is almost over, Walking Dead-heads. And when we left the residents of Alexandria, upheaval was the order of the day. As Rick and Deanna continued to circle each other for control (and the moral mindset) of the community, loose cannon Dr. Pete slit the throat of Deanna’s docile husband and Rick shot him dead on the spot. Right in front of the newly arrived (and newly zen) Morgan, who showed up with Daryl and Aaron, all three having made chilling discoveries outside the gate. Executive producer and zombie master Greg Nicotero promises a Season 6 opener of The […]

American Horror Story: Hotel — who is new, who is back and who plays whom in Season 5

When Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk bring American Horror Story back for its fifth season — fittingly subtitled Hotel — look for the FX hit to boast another bold new look, but a feel that revisits the first season of the most-watched franchise in the network’s 21-year history. “True horror fans loved the first season because it really is a very psychological season and it plays with a lot of very familiar tropes,” Murphy explains. “The season we’re doing this year harkens back to the first season, which is much more rooted in honest, primal fears.” AHS — which has […]
