Could it be the revenge of Kelly and Christi is finally upon us? In the preview clip for the Jan. 6 season 5 premiere of Lifetime’s once-mighty Dance Moms, just four of the series’ original dancers — Maddie and Mackenzie Ziegler, Nia Frazier and Kendall Vertes — appear in the studio, and Kendall’s mom Jill forewarns of former Dance Moms Christi Lukasiak and Kelly Hyland’s plan to “destroy the ALDC.” Even the splashy graphics announce that ABBY’S EMPIRE IS FALLING APART! Channel your inner von Trapp with tonight’s The Sound of Music Sing Along on ABC

If you think you know every last word to every single song in the 1965 Rodgers and Hammerstein family classic The Sound of Music, here’s your chance to test that theory. Or maybe your renditions go something like “Edelweiss, edelweiss, la la lala la laaaaaaaa laaaaaaa!” and you’d like to remedy that. Tonight ABC presents The Sound of Music: Sing-A-Long, a special edition of the beloved film featuring subtitles to its Grammy-nominated soundtrack that allow you to channel your inner Fräulein Maria or Captain von Trapp with confidence. HBO’s “Saving My Tomorrow” special is an insightful, impactful family treat

If you ever need to have yourself a stern lecture about a very important subject, let me suggest that you get it from 8-year-old Hippocrates Polemis, one of the young stars of HBO’s spectacular, song-filled family special Saving My Tomorrow which premieres tonight. Like his ancient namesake, the dark-eyed little fellow has a fine grasp on what is — and isn’t — good for us. Sporting a “ICARE For The World” t-shirt and a smudge of lunch on his face, Hippocrates reminds us — with all the gravitas of your high-school principal — that we can’t just travel through galaxies […]

America’s favorite playthings are back in a new animated adventure, Toy Story That Time Forgot. In the new ABC special, a post-Christmas playdate takes an unexpected turn when the season’s hottest action figures turn out to be dangerously delusional. Many actors in the Toy Story franchise — like Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Joan Cusack and Wallace Shawn — reprise their famous roles in the 30-minute special. “Gortimer Gibbon’s Life on Normal Street” is a Delight

Amazon Studios is doing it right. Their newest series for kids, Gortimer Gibbon’s Life on Normal Street is available to download starting November 21, which means kids will have something fresh to watch in time for holiday traveling. Whenever I get a kid’s show to preview, I sit down to watch with my two junior reviewers — my boys ages 7 and 5. They are my willing assistants who are thrilled to watch something before it’s available to their friends. After watching a few episodes of Gortimer Gibbon together, (and relishing in their reactions which ranged from peeking out from […]

FOX’s Greatest TV Moment This Year, and Why All Gordon Ramsay TV Shows Should Have Kids.

Can all reincarnations of FOX shows with Gordon Ramsay be revamped to include kids? That’s what I’m wondering … We’re 2 weeks into the second season of MasterChef: Junior Edition and I’m already clamoring for kid-testants to be mandatory on all future Gordon Ramsay shows. Here are my reasons why (In no particular order) 1) Gordon Ramsay is nicer. On his other shows, Gordon Ramsay is a screaming Scotsman. He seems to relish when the contestants on Hell’s Kitchen mess up so he can morph into the Tryant of Taste. If he treats his actual employees like that, does it […]
